A-dorable. I think it actually looks better without the sleeves. Huzzah, huzzah! Cheesy
3  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Re: Fabric Napkins & Coasters on: December 04, 2009 07:33:48 PM
These are adorable! I, too, love the owls. Now I'm inspired to make my own.

Cotton and linen make the best napkins.  The trick is when you wash them to not use fabric softener because this will cause less liquid absorption.

This is good to know. Thanks for the tip about the fabric softener! I never would have thought of that. My napkins would have been sad...

This is awesome! Your plants look so happy! I have a similar problem: lots of concrete where all the sun is and nowhere for food to grow. So I am going to have buy that book/follow your tute and try this next year (landlord's kind permission permitting...I don't think he'll care). Thanks for sharing! Cheesy

Try checking out the cookbooks over at Chronicle Books (http://www.chroniclebooks.com/index/store,books/path,1-8/title,Food/). Their cookbooks always have great design and yummy pictures. Smiley
6  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: Solar cooking on: July 18, 2009 01:50:16 PM
Awesome! I really want to make one, but the only place I could put it is on my fire escape and it doesn't get enough sun. Maybe someday. Wink

Yum, that lasagna looks good...

Beautiful! Using demin to make an Alice dress, what a great idea!

Oooh, I love it! It's so nice and long. The pocket is a nice touch, too. Cheesy (Tute tute?)
9  HOME SWEET HOME / Exterior Decorating / Yard Art / Gardening: Discussion and Questions / Re: Killdeer in my Pepper Patch new chick pics added! on: July 16, 2009 01:22:47 PM
Aaah, I'm so glad I came across your post. I always see these birds in parking lots and along roadsides in the summer but had no idea what they were.

According to my Peterson field guide killdeer spend all year in Southwestern Ohio (I'm from Cincinnati, hoo'ray)...but I swear that I only see them in the summer. (It just now occurred to me that I could have looked this up a long time ago...) I'd love find a nest sometime; those eggs are lovely!

Thanks for sharing! Cheesy
10  HOME SWEET HOME / Exterior Decorating / Yard Art / Gardening: Completed Projects / Re: Make Your Own Worm Hotel - Home Composting Tutorial! on: July 16, 2009 01:12:16 PM
This is great! I've been storing my food scrapes in biodegradable trash bags to haul off to my parents' once a week (30 minutes away from where I live). It isn't a very efficient (or odorless) system. I think I'll try your tute and set up shop in my kitchen. Thanks for the link on worm nutrition, too. I've been dumping anything that Nature will break down in my bags (including lots and lots of tea bags), so I'll remember to be more picky. Thanks for sharing! Cheesy
