1  Nightwing Felt Hair Barrette in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by gonesmithing on: April 01, 2012 03:48:35 PM
My friend loves Nightwing from the Batman series of DC comics so I decided to make this for her. The pattern was done freehand.

2  Spock Barrette in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by gonesmithing on: December 25, 2011 09:58:01 PM

002.jpg by tellmewhatyousee, on Flickr

I've been making barrettes for my friends as testers for a store I may eventually open. So I made my Star Trek loving friend a Spock barrette.

I drew the face on a piece of cardboard for a pattern but ended up free handing the ear and hair and used science blue for the barrette's covering.

I am really happy with the way the minimalist features turned out. It ended up having enough detail to be recognizable but not too much as to overcrowd the tiny barrette.

3  Felt Yankees Jersey Brooch in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by gonesmithing on: March 06, 2010 05:20:10 PM

I made this for my friend who is a hardcore yankees fan as a thank you for putting up with my insane love for Hockey these past few weeks.

I freehanded the pattern for the jersey as well as the numbers on the jersey and used a blanket stitch to pull it all together.

4  Starfleet Command Felt Brooch in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by gonesmithing on: February 10, 2010 04:32:58 PM

I started getting antsy to make something so I free handed a pattern for the starfleet symbol, freehand embroidered the command symbol on it and then blanket stitched it together to make a pin. It took about 20 minutes all together to make.

5  Crochet Storm Trooper Hat in Crochet: Completed Projects by gonesmithing on: February 04, 2010 11:41:10 AM

I used this pattern http://www.crochetspot.com/how-to-crochet-a-hat/ as a base and then altered it to make a storm trooper helmet because I love Star Wars.

I am still debating whether or not to add ear flaps.

6  Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Pins in Completed Projects by gonesmithing on: December 26, 2009 08:28:41 PM
I had decided to make these a while ago and finally got around to making a cardboard pattern so I could make the complete set, or in my case three Donatellos and three Raphaels for friends. I haven't decided what to do for the eyes (or if I am going to put on any eyes at all) so if you have any suggestions please let me know.

Also! Donatello looks really washed out here but his mask is the right color.

7  Re: Creepy Cute Crochet-along? in Crochetalongs by gonesmithing on: October 27, 2009 02:59:03 PM
I made the devil from creepy cute crochet, but without the goatee or the cape. I thought it looked cuter this way.

The pattern was pretty easy to read, thankfully. I've heard some nightmare stories about these patterns and was worried, but everything worked out pretty good.

8  Brooches in Needlework: Completed Projects by gonesmithing on: October 26, 2009 03:48:54 PM
Owl

I made this completely based off of this owl http://www.cutoutandkeep.net/projects/new_owls because I thought her design was super cute and I wanted to make it for a friend I know who loves owls.

It is about two inches tall and took me less than 20 minutes to make because it was all blanket stitching. The part that actually took the longest was drawing patterns for and cutting out all the pieces because I did it free hand.

Dia de los muertos skull:

this one took me longer because I had to figure out what patterns to put on the skull to make it look like a day of the dead skull without having it get overwhelmed with color. I ended up using bright colors in a mix of french knots, blanket stitch, coral stitch, lazy daisy/detached chain flowers, and combination stitch.

This brooch was inspired by traditional day of the dead artwork and colors. It's one of my favorite types of artwork and I wanted to have something that I could wear year round to represent it.

9  Frank Iero Crochet and Felt Doll in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by gonesmithing on: September 27, 2009 03:11:34 PM
I decided to make a crochet Frank Iero doll randomly one day and here are the results:

Made using the sackboy pattern here http://moonscreations.blogspot.com/2009/03/sack-boy-amigurumi-pattern.html for the body of the doll. I free handed the clothes patterns and "latchhooked" the hair on.
