2  Party Decor and costume (lots of pics!) in Halloween Decor and Parties by cindylund on: October 31, 2005 06:29:36 PM
the house i live in has a huge halloween party every year, but this was the first year that i have actually lived in the house.  i took charge of the decorations with a halloween loving friend.  here are the results
the porch

close-ups of the porch

the highlights of the interior

and finally our costumes

we left the outside decorations up for the trick-or-treaters (sans knives) and have had several little kids kicking the deadman to make sure its dead.  i hope we arent giving anyone nightmares about dead bunnies!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!

im confused-are both the 2003 pics of you dressed up of the WS or is it a picture of them?

last year was my first big sewing adventure for halloween.  i was the statue of liberation by force (idea sparked by the foam statue tiara thingy from a friend who had visited NYC) and my bf was camo uncle sam.

5  Re: Look, I Can Read! Fave Kids Books Gallery in The Swap Gallery by cindylund on: July 25, 2005 07:56:26 PM
i just received my wonderful package from emilyflew!  its absolutely lovely!!

i sent 'the big orange splot' by daniel pinkwater.  its about a street where all the houses look the same and everyone think the street is very neat.  then a bird drops a bucket of orange paint on one man's house and despite the neighbors requests he doesnt remove the resulting big orange splot.  instead he paints his house totally wacky and puts palm trees, a hammock and an alligator in the front lawn.  one by one the neighbors go talk to him over lemonade and then go and paint their own homes according to their dreams.

so heres everything together

so there's a decopauged house/jewelry box with paints so that i can paint to my dreams (such a great idea!!)  and a felt alligator and palms trees for the front!

a lemonade set- etched glasses (say 'all my dreams'), a package of lemonade and an ice cube tray

magnets that are replicas of the houses from the book

and a notebook with a big orange splot

i love everything emily!!  its obivous you put a lot of effort into everything-i really appreciate it.

 thanks!

I'm glad you liked everything, sleepygirl!  I forgot to include a note in the package, so i wanted to let you know the t-shirt is an iron on transfer and the directions say that you shouldn't put it in the drier.  i hope I'm not too late in letting you know!  i was just uploading a bunch of photos so i thought i'd post mine while im at it.  here's the stuff i made:

inspired by Katie Morag delivers the mail-
the t-shirt

and a close up

the fishing lure earrings (one of the packages she delivers is fishing lures)

and the mail-bag

inspired by the patchwork cat-
notecards

this is what i made for the swap.  seattle public art coasters.  the first picture has a glare but is closer up, the second lets you see what was in the glare.  the bottom left one is the Sound Garden, a bunch of organ pipes with windmills attached so that they make different sounds depending on the wind. (and of course inspiration for the band's name)
