1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Kpop Swap on: August 16, 2012 11:13:25 PM
The "hallyu wave" has been sweeping the world. With kpop *gladly* exploding outside of korea, I think there may be enough interest here for a swap of some sort? My initial idea was something simple. A lot of idols wear face masks when they head out in public. Probably the most notable of them (at least to me) is Eunhyuk of Super Junior. He has the biggest collection that I know of.

https://www.google.com/search?q=eunhyuk+mask&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&hl=en&tbm=isch&source=og&sa=N&tab=wi&ei=CLwtUOuFMo2vygGLxIGABg&biw=2000&bih=929&sei=C7wtUPf-KoK9ygGV-4GQDw

However we can do a general crafting swap if potential participants prefer? I will gladly organize this swap. If there is immediate interest, I'll be looking to start sign ups the first week of September with a 7-10 day sign up window and a 2-4 week crafting time depending on the type of swap we end up doing.

Thoughts and comments welcome!

I bought some cotton face masks from ebay and used permanent fabric markers to draw designs on them. You can make always make your own and use whatever to decorate them.
2  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Poncho swap? on: September 17, 2011 01:38:26 PM
Would anyone be interested in doing a poncho swap? I was thinking this is a great time since it isn't quite cold yet and it isn't quite "the holiday season" so craft stores have more stuff in stock and aren't as busy. Plus if you're sewing, they don't take too long to make.

I was really thinking about a fleece geeky/nerdy themed poncho swap, but I would be willing to leave that requirement out if it will attract more swappers.

You can sew, knit or crochet and I will match partners up as best as I can based on what they want. Materials and style can also be your choice. Upcycling is cool too. Whatever floats your boat!

Anyone in on this? I'm thinking sign-ups starting October 1, closing Oct 15 and send by Nov 17? I don't know how long it takes to knit or crochet one so let me know if more crafting time is needed.

3  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Super Wall Art on: September 15, 2011 08:36:59 PM
I troll my local Dollar Trees pretty frequently to see what new goods they have and what one location has that another doesn't. One day, I came across this unpainted DIY frame box with 9 "boxes". Each box is 2x2". As a lot of things do, it sat in my crafting room until the appropriate project came along for it. I created it for an SO swap as my partners SO loves Superman and comic books. I picked 9 DC characters that had their own logos (surprising how many of them don't) and painted each box with the primary colors from each of their costumes. Next I googled the logo images, scaled them down to 2x2", printed them out on glossy paper and pasted each one into the appropriate box. Acrylic paints and mod podge were used.

I think it came out well despite the fact that I choose the colors for each box as I was painting. I did my best to keep similar colored boxes from being right next to each other. You'll notice Robin and Flash have yellow walls on the left. I literally painted myself into a corner on that one! Flash was the last box to be painted and before I realized the double yellow issue, it was too late. Oh well  Undecided

I think this would be a great gift for any comic book fan young or old! Plus its an easy and cheap way to dress up their room  Wink All angles are pictured. (Its hard to see but the roof of the Wonder Woman box is metallic gold.)

4  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Geeky Nerdy Christmas Stocking Swap on: September 03, 2011 08:55:36 PM
I wonder if anyone would be interested in a Geeky/Nerdy Christmas Stocking Swap? I wouldn't be able to org, but would love to participate!
5  California / California: North / Like new Yudu Machine for sale Antioch, CA (bay area) on: August 26, 2011 02:47:07 PM

I bought this several months ago with the lofty ambition of making t-shirts to sell. I have expanded my business with other products and no longer wish to add this venture to my mounting work load. I bought it brand new for $140. I have attempted to use it once but could not quite get the hang of making the emulsion, so I never got to using the actual ink. It has been sitting untouched for a few months as I had planned to try again, but now I'd rather just sell it and use the money for other needed supplies. It comes with everything a new unopened box comes with except there are less emulsion and transparency sheets. The screen needs cleaning before its next use. I am providing a bottle of concentrate emulsion remover for your needs. This is a bonus as it does not come with the initial setup. I think I even have the original box somewhere. I suggest picking up any additional supplies you want on ebay as its generally a lot cheaper than buying from a craft store.
I am asking $100 cash for the setup. Pickup in Antioch. I would also trade for $100 Joann Fabrics or ebay gift certificate. I should be available most of the time this evening thru this sunday if you want to purchase or we can arrange another time. Please PM me if interested.
6  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Discussion and Questions / paintbrush help! on: June 16, 2011 01:37:35 PM
does anyone know of a reasonably priced brand of paintbrushes that don't leave brush strokes or brush hairs behind? I would be using them to paints lots of different mediums. Thanks in advance!

9  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Digital Photography Swap on: April 20, 2011 07:35:48 PM
Details of swap:
Time to start fooling around with our new cameras from the holidays! Take a month to snap photos, pick one and craft a lovely 5x7 frame for your partner with the photo you took inside! Extras are fine, but that needs to be arranged between you and your partner. This is an easy task, I'd like the organizing of this swap to be easy too. Please send early if possible! Here's a website with good how to info for SLRs to get you familiar with your camera! http://www.mikeindustries.com/blog/archive/2008/01/a-rookie-guide-to-digital-slr-cameras Any 3+ megapixel digital camera is okay to use in this swap.

(This photo was taken with my old 3MP Canon camera. Can't wait to see what my new 12MP Canon will do!)

I ask that everyone post here at least once a week after signups end, I may or may not do official check-ins! Also, make sure you keep in contact with your partner, even if you just send them a little hello every once in a while!

I reserve the right to refuse anyone due to feedback, frequent late senders or flakes may be refused!

10  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Princess Peach Power hat on: April 18, 2011 04:48:23 PM
I think its time that Princess Peach trades in her crown, for a hat and why not a Mario style hat? The hat that started a Nintendo revolution. It turned out well. I was even able to figure out what font is used for the lettering on the hats, so the P is canon. Peach power! I'd love to see some kids wearing these at a birthday party. I've worn it myself...lol
