5  Poncho swap? in New Swap Theme Ideas by h-chan on: September 17, 2011 01:38:26 PM
Would anyone be interested in doing a poncho swap? I was thinking this is a great time since it isn't quite cold yet and it isn't quite "the holiday season" so craft stores have more stuff in stock and aren't as busy. Plus if you're sewing, they don't take too long to make.

I was really thinking about a fleece geeky/nerdy themed poncho swap, but I would be willing to leave that requirement out if it will attract more swappers.

You can sew, knit or crochet and I will match partners up as best as I can based on what they want. Materials and style can also be your choice. Upcycling is cool too. Whatever floats your boat!

Anyone in on this? I'm thinking sign-ups starting October 1, closing Oct 15 and send by Nov 17? I don't know how long it takes to knit or crochet one so let me know if more crafting time is needed.

6  Super Wall Art in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by h-chan on: September 15, 2011 08:36:59 PM
I troll my local Dollar Trees pretty frequently to see what new goods they have and what one location has that another doesn't. One day, I came across this unpainted DIY frame box with 9 "boxes". Each box is 2x2". As a lot of things do, it sat in my crafting room until the appropriate project came along for it. I created it for an SO swap as my partners SO loves Superman and comic books. I picked 9 DC characters that had their own logos (surprising how many of them don't) and painted each box with the primary colors from each of their costumes. Next I googled the logo images, scaled them down to 2x2", printed them out on glossy paper and pasted each one into the appropriate box. Acrylic paints and mod podge were used.

I think it came out well despite the fact that I choose the colors for each box as I was painting. I did my best to keep similar colored boxes from being right next to each other. You'll notice Robin and Flash have yellow walls on the left. I literally painted myself into a corner on that one! Flash was the last box to be painted and before I realized the double yellow issue, it was too late. Oh well  Undecided

I think this would be a great gift for any comic book fan young or old! Plus its an easy and cheap way to dress up their room  Wink All angles are pictured. (Its hard to see but the roof of the Wonder Woman box is metallic gold.)

I received from CDEeeek a few days ago. My apologies for the delay in photo posting, I've been busy.

I got a wonderful decorated heart box and inside are the pieces of eight from the pirate lords used to release Calipso.

I also received a cute hand written note addressed to me (Yeah I'm a captain! Cheesy) Also inside are hand drawn inchies of the pieces of eight including the names of the pirate lords they belong to on the back.

Thanks for a cute package!

10  Re: Pillow Cover Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by h-chan on: July 23, 2011 10:15:53 PM
I received from craftsunderground today. My my I got two awesome swap partners XD

I squealed with delight upon opening the first package! It's Ron Weasley's sweater from Harry Potter upcycled into a pillow cover! I ADORE Ron! This one is headed to the bed with me Wink

Last but not least, I ooh and awed at the awesome hand stitching of the auryn from one of my favorite movies The NeverEnding Story!

Such detail!

I agree that this swap was a little tough to craft for but thank you to my two wonderful partners who both hit the crafting nail on the head! I look forward to the next round so I can craft a little more outside of the box, so to speak.
