1  4th of July Sundress for me! (and my first craftster project!) in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by catwoman531 on: June 29, 2009 09:37:49 PM
So the weather is finally heating up and due to several moves in the last year I have no earthly idea where my summer clothes are hiding. Since funds are low it looks like I'll have to be creative this summer. I had a bolt-end of fabric I bought from Joanne's that I have been wanting to do.......something with and I finally found some great sundress examples posted by some very creative people!

I got out my wax paper roll, my sharpie and my measuring tape and got creative myself! I was able to create a pretty good pattern that would fit on my 2 1/2 yards of fabric and actually fit me. this is an accomplishment in itself. After I got the whole thing together I realized I didn't have enough material for the straps! So I started scrounging around and found some black ribbon left over from my recent wedding and some really cool pink buttons. I thought I had a long enough zipper but I was wrong. It was only a 9 inch, which meant even more creativity! Here are the pics! hope you like it!

My husband took this. He wanted a little leg....

Heres the back

I used the waist from an old black knit jumper for the band.

A close up...

I did a zig zag stitch with a very long stitch length on the ribbon.
