11  Steampunk Nutcracker in Winter Holidays by nicoleburdsall on: December 31, 2011 12:44:47 AM
I had been getting pretty cranky with making all the Christmas gifts, so in my spare time (AKA the time while gifts were drying) I made something fun for myself. I think he turned out pretty cute. Much better than the plain nutcracker he was when my mom picked him up at the Goodwill. The only problem is I didn't sand him down first and he had a glossy coat so the paint scratches off easily. I'm going to need to spray him with a coat of something or other!

So soulsfiregrace has been pretty busy lately, so I'm going to post the package I sent her. (I hope you don't mind soulsfiregrace!) I actually just realized I didn't take a picture of the infant hat I sent :C Soulsfiregrace, if you could do that for me I would appreciate it!

Felt monster puzzle blocks

Mixed media yetti

An extra silly little octopus drawing

A little red stuffie, and an extra little pink tentacle monster (he was actually just a failed poof ball I had intended on using for a hat...) and the card I sent along with it

Like I said, I received from soulsfiregrace the other day and MAN did I get spoiled.

First, a SUPER cute card, TONS of ribbon, two fabric squares and some nummy candies.

Some adorable paintings

A CRAZY cute *RAINBOW* necklace (Rainbow is my favorite color)

A mug with the quote "We stopped checking for monsters under the bed when we realized they were inside us." My sister saw it and was like "Woah... deep..." Possibly a little too deep for morning coffee, but definitely great for *those* days... which happen frequently lol

And I saved the best for last. The most ADORABLE yeti calendar. I posted this on facebook like 5 minutes ago and already have people who are jealous.

Thank you so much, partner!

Here you go

Holy Monster Teeth!  Wait until yall see what I got in the mail today!!!

First some lovely Tshirts for my boyfriend:

Ryan is also modeling the very cool crochet eyeball in that last pic.  You may also notice that he is wearing the eyeball Tshirt, because he IMMEDIATELY put it on after seeing it..  I think we have a new favorite folks!  lol...  He also threw the eyeball plush at me right after this pic was taken. lol...  Men will turn anything into a projectile!

Next up we have an amazing eyeball monster sculpture!
and here it is above the fireplace, were it belongs:

Next up(I KNOW, so much stuff!!) we have a cute little monster on a oven mit, nomming it up!  Nom nom nom....

it's so much cuter than the dumb one that we have with a palm tree on it... and burn marks.  lol.  She also sent two matching towels to go with it!  I think I might embroider them:

And last but not least in any way possible is the worlds cutest lady monster!

SO FREAKING CUTE!  I love her!  and she's so soft, and I love her colors, and I love her cute dress... I just love her!

Thank you, thank you, thank you so much TangledUpNBlue!  You're amazing!

15  So many bracelets! in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by nicoleburdsall on: September 25, 2011 12:27:19 AM
I felt like I was in a crafty slump today, so I made a few bracelets that I knew would turn out. Well actually, the first one was a TOTAL experiment, but the rest were sort of similar to bracelets I've made in the past so I knew they would be good ones to get me out of my rut.

So first my experiment. It's actually made out of a tape tube thing that I wrapped in fabric and then in lace.

Then there's this bunny loaded bracelet I made for a friend of mine for her birthday. She likes bunnys, and I happened to get a ton of little charms today including about 10 of these guys. Now I don't know what to do with the rest! This has 2 chains; one gold, one bronze (the beads are on the bronze chain)

Next is this Christmas-inspired bracelet. It's pretty self explanatory :]

And finally another loaded bracelet. It's a simple and light one, which is sort of nice. I got really excited about the square beads; they're frosted or matte hematite, which I've never really seen before.

Nights like these are why I have SO much jewelry!

16  Re: One Tiny Book Rd 2 GALLERY in The Swap Gallery by nicoleburdsall on: September 23, 2011 11:03:12 PM
I received from Kimcherry and OOOH I LOVE IT. She went with a quote theme and it's so so cool :]

Cover (with the sand dollar I found today!)

And the pages...
"Hitch your wagon to a star"

"Meditate. Live purely. Be quiet. Do your work with mastery. Like the moon, come out from behind the clouds! SHINE"

"Some people feel the rain. Others just get wet."

"Let it be" (One of my favorite quotes. Simply put, but a good way to live life. Also, one of my favorite pages. It's embroidered!)

"Looking for that pot of gold, don't miss all the beautiful colors of the rainbow" (This had a half page before it that was watercolored rainbow colors)

"I want to think again of dangerous and noble things. I want to be light and frolicsome. I want to be improbable, beautiful and afraid of nothing as though I had wings"

"Blank walls are criminal"

"A candle loses nothing by lighting another candle"

"I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too big a burden to bear."

Thank you SO much Kimcherry!

17  Today's creations: Two necklaces and a bracelet in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by nicoleburdsall on: August 29, 2011 01:42:47 AM
I went to a craft party today and these were the results!

First Friendly Plastic attempt. I wanted to keep it suuuuper simple in case I messed it up, but I actually am really happy with the end result.

A bracelet that I had actually already made but the string wasn't very sturdy, so all I did today was just restring it on beading wire

And a repurposed earring turned necklace. I changed a few of the stones and then did the chain parts. It was tedious, but i'm happy with it.

Craft parties are awesome for getting your butt in gear!

18  Inchie song book in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by nicoleburdsall on: August 27, 2011 02:38:30 PM
I've never really done inchies before, but my mom and I had a night where we chose a few random craft supplies for each other to use in our crafting, and one of mine was this little hinge. And little hinge=little book! Also, my sister had some leftover sheet music from orchestra, so it just sort of fell together. The covers are chip boards and the pages are folded accordion style.

19  Repurposed mask in Completed Projects by nicoleburdsall on: August 27, 2011 02:27:51 PM

My mom found an old mask at Goodwill, and I took it upon myself to revamp it a bit. I spray painted it black, added some red to one side and some white to the other, and painted the inside red as well. Then I added some glitter swirls on the side and some glitter above the left eye (can't really see it here, but it is!). And to finish it off (and so I can hang it) I added some ribbons (some of which have pretty red beads at the bottom. Voila!

Here's the original mask

The paint job

The glitter

Super happy with how this turned out :]

20  Mason Jar Lamps in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by nicoleburdsall on: August 26, 2011 09:40:01 PM
So I've been wanting to make these forever (meaning a few months) and while cleaning the garage I found the perfect jars for it! I used this (http://blog.freepeople.com/2011/03/wednes-diy-63/) as inspiration, but added some little twists. I didn't paint the inside like the tutorial suggests because the solar lights I used were really weak and I didn't want to diffuse the light too much. However, I did feel like it needed something to even out the glow throughout the jar so I added a bunch of marbles and glass bits at the bottom. Plus it added some color, which I am always fond of. I also added the little bee because... well... cute doesn't need a reason! XD Well, also, the jar reminded me of a beehive. So there you have it!
