Absolutely they can be used for needle felting! All you have to make sure of when purchasing any fiber for felting is that it doesn't contain Superwash (or sometimes abbreviated SW) fiber, or a content of any plant or synthetic fiber over 40% of the total weight (give or take, but that's my own general rule of thumb.)

Oh boy...you might want to google "How to wash raw fleece." It's quite an undertaking in my opinion, but can be fun and is very rewarding. Basically in short you have to first melt the lanolin (sticky stuff) off of the wool. You do this by soaking it in extremely hot water with a grease cutting agent, ie Dawn dishsoap. Might take a couple soaks. Then you have to let it dry. And then you can card it or spin it right from the lock. Good luck!

Thank you! I use all kinds of different fibers, Wools, bamboo, silk, silk noils, etc. For the sparkle I either use a nylon fiber called "Firestar" that I hand dye, or "angelina" which is a mylar fiber. Both very fun! (I LOVE the sparkle if you couldn't tell. hehe!)

Gorgeous, Gorgeous!

I haven't been spinning much as I've been carding batts and actually started knitting more! Therefore these yarns all have a purpose in mind for a change! Also we recently started some home improvement projects...mainly tearing down wallpaper in the kitchen and getting ready to put in some additional cupboards/countertops, a breakfast/wine bar, paint, etc. so not much night time spinning time BUT here are a few from the last few weeks:

Corspun from a Traveling Rhinos batt. My favorite color combo, I'm thinking GPS cozy!!!

From fiber by Kristin of All Spun Up, custom colorway, 8oz. 2 ply LOTS of yardage...and it's currently a tangled mess because I went to use it and yeah... EEEK! I think once it's untangled it's going to be a baby surprise jacket!

Corespun merino, alpaca, shetland bamboo from some batts I made...going to be a hat!

All Spun Up Merino single...for Huh but I LOVE it!

Also in case anyone is interested a couple weeks ago I rearranged my studio a bit, there is a "tour" on my blog, http://uniquelyyoursdesign.blogspot.com/2009/09/tour-of-my-studio.html

Hope everyone has a wonderful and fiber filled weekend...unfortunately I don't see much fiber time in store for me, I think mine is going to be filled with painting and installing...but it will be SO nice when it's done! TGIF!!!
