I was feeling nostalgic, so I thought I'd post these. Some old pencil portraits from high school:
Found a picture of them and loved it so much I asked to draw it. I think I like this one best.
Unfinished, and the irl version is lost so I never will. Sad.
Spilled some stuff on this one >.>
The first portrait I ever finished.
A gift for a friend to give to a friend. It's a singer from Grizzly Bear in their Two Weeks music video. I have no idea who they are or what their music is like, hahah. I just drew it for a friend to give as a gift
After I scanned it I messed with the colors to give it way more contrast, since the original scan didn't turn out well.
Except for the last one, they're all actually very small portraits, about half a page of regular 8x11 paper or smaller. The last one fills up most of an 8x11 page though. The first, third, and fifth ones are done on bristol board, and the 2nd and 4th in a sketchbook (and they're the actual size they appear on your screen). They're all done with a regular old mechanical pencil, whatever I had in my bag. No special tools except an eraser pencil (so you can sharpen it and erase more carefully).
I haven't finished a portrait since the last one (which I did a little more than a year ago...which was not high school, like the others >.>) but I've been working on one of my boyfriend and I on and off for a couple of months. Luckily going back and looking at old ones is helping to inspire me to finish and start some more that I've been meaning to get around to
