1  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / Making a Basic Dining room Chair into an Upholstered Chair? on: March 09, 2012 08:25:25 PM
I have been doing and making everything myself these days [I am even going to make my own printed jute rug] and wondered if i could turn a basic dining room/desk chair into an upholstered chair? i do not see why not! I am just worried about making the back piece comfortable...

a chair like this:

any ideas on how to pad it?

this first one started out a bit different, then i just HAD to put in this mesh 'window' in the front [it's 3 layers, a thicker one sandwiched between two finer softer layers]... it fits like a glove at least! i pretty much just outlined myself on the faux leather and sewed it up, the window was a bit tricky but it was worth the trouble to try something new  Smiley

and this one doesnt fit so well, but it was fun, the flannel little piggies are super cute [in my opinion] and i wanted to do something with tiers:

ill just mention that i didnt have any type of pattern for either of these and they were entirely hand-sewn Smiley

comments! criticism!
