That knitted mouse knitting is to cute!

I received an amazing package from aheartofglass yesterday!
Here is the group shot....

Her favorites....
Craft supplies-natural stone beads and jewelery findings, we both make jewelry so these are prefect!
Scent-lavender-she sent lavender mineral bath and dead sea (I have actually been to the dead sea!) mineral soap-they both smell wonderful

Craft it...
Glass coaster with her favorite glass in it....the pictures don't do it justice (I will try to take another pic and post it), the colors are so beautiful in it. I want to use it as a display piece since it seems to pretty to be a coaster!
A Christmas tree ornament-we both love Christmas and sent each other ornaments. I always love getting new ornaments so this is great!

Hobbies...
Movies-She sent my the DVD of Bottle Shock, which I can't wait to watch (It was actually one from my netflix queue that I haven't watched yet)
Music-A Rodrigo y Gabriela CD---I love this CD! I had no idea aheartofglass was also a fan! It seems like we have a lot in common Cheesy
Horses-She sent a cute little stuffed bay horse key chain. Her own horse is a bay.

Closer to home...
Soap and lip balm form a local small business...I can't wait to use the lip balm and the soap smells wonderful.
Cards with water color paintings done by an artist friend of hers-these are beautiful!
Atomic marble that reminds her of graduate school-I had never heard of these, they are colored by gamma radiation, but are not radioactive (thankfully lol). Very cool.

Extras
Yummy chocolate, a sticker, a neat little beaded basket and Guatemalan worry dolls which I will have to try out!

Thank you soooooo much aheartofglass! I really loved everything you sent!!!! Grin

64  Needle felted bear in Felting: Completed Projects by RaraAvis on: April 05, 2012 09:00:50 AM
I realized the other day I never posted pics of my first ever attempt at needle felting. I started off making a sphere which I decided to turn into the body and then just went on from there adding things and trying different stuff out.

Thanks for looking!!!!!

I received an AMAZING Grin package from indigo_roses yesterday!!!!! But before I get to the pics I just want to say how wonderful it is to look through this gallery! The TM stuff is great. I love the altered owl tin (I have some friends who could use that, lol). The heart hoop is just beautiful and the comma hoop is hilarious!

Now onto the goods.....first here is the whole package

(She sent some beautiful fabric and paper as extras. Also, as extras chocolate (yummy!) and a prototype of a amigurumi bunny she is working on).

Here is a shot of all the amigurumi. I have wanted some for a long time (I don't crochet), so I was really excited to get so many. I love the ocean theme!

(Bonus the clam can come out of its shell!)

The octopus and lobster are super cute.

A stenciled Harry Potter themed shirt.

Finally, a beautiful shrug!!!!! I put it on as soon as I opened the box and did not want to take it off! I just love it! indigo_roses said it was the first time she has made crocheted clothing, which is incredible because the shrug turned out prefect!

Thank you so much indigo_roses! I LOVED everything you sent! Smiley Wink Cheesy Grin

66  Re: Make-a-Friend Round 8 :: Holiday Edition! :: The Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by RaraAvis on: February 16, 2012 11:09:28 AM
I know this swap seems like ages ago, but since my partner never got a chance to post pics of the items I sent her, I thought I would go ahead and post them.

The first item was the gift for her to open on her holiday. I made a necklace of an owl (one of her favorite animals) perched in a tree, with a full moon in the background.

The next items were gifts to give to friends/family. I made two sets of hand dipped beeswax candles and six little star beeswax floating candles. I also included a little beeswax ornament of a house.

Finally, I made her a de-stress kit. Since she likes Alice and Wonderland and is a coffee/tea drinker I decided to make her a set of mug rugs. I included a set of teacups and saucers and also some biscotti and tea!

Package 2, received from ironic

Here are the pics from my awesome package from ironic! I was so happy to see knitted items since I don't know how to knit and I love them!

To start off....something for me to stay organized, a cute little coin purse...

Something to give to a friend or family member....scarf and necktie (love the colors!)

The necktie is really cool, I have never seen anything like it. One end tucks into the other end and it has this cool diamond shape (bad description lol!). The photo really doesn't do it justice. I admit I think I am going to have to keep this one for myself! I just love it!

Finally, a gift for me to open on xmas....which I just had to open sooner! Grin
A cool headband and coffee cozie

and fingerless gloves in my favorite color!!!!

Thanks again ironic! I had a great time swapping with you! Cheesy

Package 1, received from ironic

From left to right in the picture.
-Something she wears during the autumn months-fleece hat
-An autumn essential-nose warmer (lol! I thought this was funny at first, but it really does the job! I might have to try this out on really cold days around the house)
-Something that keeps her organized-to-do list notebook (prefect because I always make lists)
-Something she uses to decorate-stuffed pumpkins (I already picked a great place to display them!)
-Something that is related to her favorite craft-fabric (such cute fabric-I love it!)
-Something she uses to distress-heavy knee bag for achy joints (I love fabric she crafted this in!)

close up of the cute pumpkins!

Next group photo
-Something related to photography-photos she has taken
-Something related to yarn-knitting needles and some yarn (She said her next box would be full of knitted items!!!!! I cant wait!)
-Something that makes her feel warm-scarf (which is prefect because I wear them all the time in autumn and winter)
-Something that represents her favorite holiday-trick-or-treat bag
-Something with her favorite color-blue comb
-Something related to reading-mini  books
-(some fabric dyes an extra gift!)
-Something that smells like autumn to her-pumpkin body wash
-Something with sentimental to her-star wars lightsaber
-Something local-mints and bag from her college and bumper sticker from her favorite coffee shop

Thank you Ironic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wink Cheesy Grin

69  Needle felted elephant! in Felting: Completed Projects by RaraAvis on: September 09, 2011 10:57:03 AM
Hello All,

This is my first posting to the Fiber arts board Grin! For Christmas last year I asked my family for needle felting supplies, because I was interested in learning the craft. The first project I did was a small bear, that I was happy with, but I realize I never posted it. Here is my second needle felting project. My brother and sister-in-law had their forth child this summer (June 4th) and I always like to make something special for the new baby. So I decided on a needle felted animal, which turned out to be a lot more work that I realized, being it was my second attempt at needle felting. The project turned out to be more of a keepsake than a toy, but overall I am happy with it.

I picked an elephant and I thought the red and blue would be prefect for a new baby boy. The baby has four names, I embroidered them on to the "blanket" (a piece of wool felt) on the back of the elephant and sculpted the four initials around the ball the elephant is standing on.

(For privacy reasons I have removed the last two names)

I ended up not finishing it in time for the birth. I would have liked to have spent some more time on it, doing some final touch-ups and maybe adding a few things, but I didn't want to give it to my sister-in-law a long time after the baby was born. When I did give it to her, she loved it!

Thanks for looking! Cheesy

70  Michael Jackson Blanket in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by RaraAvis on: February 01, 2011 11:32:31 AM
I made this blanket for my boyfriends mother for Christmas. She is a huge Michael Jackson fan so I wanted to get her something to do with MJ. I finally decided to make her something with less than two weeks to go until Christmas. The blanket is made out of fleece. For the silhouette of MJ I found an image online, modified it, and had it enlarged. I used a die cut machine at work for the lettering. The coloring is hard to see in the photos, but the blanket is black, MJ is done in gray, and the lettering is done in white along with the glove. I then attached sequins on, by hand, to the glove. For MJ and the letters I used a zigzag stitch on my sewing machine. I finished the blanket off with black satin blanket edging. The blanket has two layers of black fleece, because I did not want the stitching to show in the back.

I was kind of nervous about it, but she ended up loving it! I was so happy and she actually wants me to make her another.

Thanks for looking! Questions, comments, and criticisms welcomed

~Caitlin
