Miscellaneous just seems to be my category. So last night as I watched the condensation on my glass of water run down and pool on the coffee table...again.. I said the same thing I have said for the past ... I dunno 2 years... "Man we really should have some coasters." So I decided to stop procrastinating and rolled out my slab of leather and began cutting circles. My original Idea was just to stain them and be done with it (the original, original idea was just to make two one for me and one for the wife but then I decided to make four you know so we could invite friends over and all have a cold drink)  But I said to my self "Self that is just a little boring think a little" Then I decided to stain them but block out the part of the leather and make the four elements, So now I have elemental coasters, hope you like them.

So for Christmas I made  my wife this Charm Bracelet with a bunch of different charms carved from, Bone, Antler, Coconut, and different stones. Every charm was about something important to her or us, and for birthdays anniversaries, and other holidays I (usually) make a new one to add to this. Hope you all like it.

A Shell because we both love the beach and this is one of the shells we collected on our first vacation together.

A Gargoyle (made from coconut) To watch over and protect her

A Pumpkin (made from bone) because I proposed in a pumpkin patch

A Celtic Knot (made from antler) For when we tied the knot

A broom (made from coconut) for her witchery

A Gypsy charm (made from antler) for her wandering spirit

An Elephant (made from bone) because she loves elephants

A Crystal point (made from a crystal point, lol)

This elephant I carved for my wife (because she loves elephants). It is carved from a piece of onyx and made the tusks from pieces of bone. I strung it on a satin cord and made some bone beads to finish it off. Hope you enjoy!

Well this is another project that goes up in Miscellaneous. This is a box carved from a round bone and has a leather bottom and lid. I was very pleased with the final outcome of the project but when I got about half way through carving this I was tempted to stop. Me and my shop were covered in white bone dust, (which I don't think I have entirely cleaned up to the disapproval of my wife) and my wrist was killing me. Someday when I have a real workshop and I don't work in a closet I won't get in so much trouble with the amount of dust I create (not to mention the smell, which if you have ever been to a dentist and had a cavity removed then you know what that smell is) any way enjoy

So I guess this goes here. My friend is starting to write books and he wanted a journal to keep all his ideas in. When he couldn't find one he liked, I made him one. Hope you enjoy it. I tried to make it look very rustic and old.

I made a Leather sleeve basically so he could always swap out the book on the inside if it got full. The entire outside is made from leather with some steel straps riveted to the leather. I also added Runes to the outside and an arrow that can me spun around to point at any rune he wanted. I also used gold wire to stitch in the leather corners.

The beads are made from Fish vertebrate, Coconut dyed black, and small shells and I strung everything on a hemp cord.

As you can tell from my screen name my name is Joe. My wife told me to get on the forum and post some of the stuff I make. In my spare time I like to carve Stones, Bones, antlers, etc. and from time to time I will work with leather. I have also worked with Chainmaille, Wood, and a little metal working. So you probably won't see me in the knitting forum. Anywho A big hello to everyone.
