1  COOKING / Dessert / I made a cake! Or a party. Maybe a partycake. on: October 20, 2012 02:35:25 PM
My boyfriend never had a real birthday cake before, so, at 33, I figured it was time for him to have one. So I created some more friends to come to the party.

The first victim fell while cutting the cake.

Soon, most of them had mysteriously disappeared.

I usually feel like this after a good party, really.

2  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / Re: Michael Jackson Shirt (First Stencil!) on: July 17, 2009 03:15:47 AM
Thank you all for your kind words Smiley

I probably should have mentioned it's indeed all done with freezer paper and fabric paint. Which is exactly why the hair was so hard.
3  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / Michael Jackson Shirt (First Stencil!) on: July 14, 2009 12:16:02 PM
My first try at stenciling (and first project on craftster, actually) and I think I did rather well. I got the image off Google Image Search because I was already nervous enough about trying to stencil, let alone design the stencil myself!  Wink

The completed project (don't mind the messy bed!)

Close up

Detail of the head (the hair very nearly drove me insane)

I kind of ignored every advice coming my way and did a picture with a lot of islands, but it did turn out okay. Just remind me to never do anything like the hair again!

It most certainly looks like vlaai!  Wink Caramel Apple vlaai sounds delicious, I guess now I have to make one myself...

9  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Issues Knitting With Two Colors on: July 14, 2009 11:35:26 AM
You're getting spaces in between the colors, right?

It's solved with twisting the 2 colors when you knit. I'm not an expert at all (I've just read this in a bunch of places Wink) but the way I've seen, when you get to a color change, take the new color, and twist under the old color.

Someone with actual knowledge come clarify Cheesy

Not sure if it's any help, but I had the exact same problem as ReticentPurple, started doing this and now all the spaces are gone.

If there's only a few gaps you could 'tie' them together on the backside of your project. That's what I do whenever I mess up the twisting.
