251  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / Re: Joann roving?? on: July 23, 2009 04:04:19 AM
Those little bags are all that I've been spinning since I made my spindle. I checked Michael's, JoAnn's, and Hobby Lobby. Nothing for spinning. I will say that the yarn I've made from this stuff is undesirable, but I'm also sure that the roving isn't totally to blame for that Tongue

Anyone know what the roving is? All the bag says on it is 'wool'. I'm curious.

I'm not one for WoW, but I was playing an in-browser game a while ago and even though I was a priest, I kept buying spider silk and spindles and crafting my own clothes. I couldn't help it!
253  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / Re: STEEL wool? on: July 23, 2009 03:01:58 AM
My brother wouldn't let me. It's probably just as well. We don't really have any gloves, and I don't like the idea of picking steel fibers out of my skin for hours.

But on the plus side, I am glad I checked back at this thread. I just ran out of wool and am waiting for my dad to buy me a bunch of fiber, but I hadn't thought to peek in pill bottles for cotton. Out of curiosity, how do you prepare the mulberry bark? If I don't get something to spin soon, I'm going to give my poor puppy a mohawk. It's not MY fault he has such pretty red fur.

>_> Okay. I have never spun anything ever in my entire life. But I'm going nuts wanting to start, and yet I'm broke. I can't afford to get any wool or anything, and my dogs, unfortunately, don't shed, though I'm tempted to take some clippers to one of 'em.

My question.

How insane am I for wanting to spin steel wool? I mean, hey, if it works, you could make something even cooler than chain mail, right? >_>

...Right?
