I was looking at the big bite. I'm getting a bonus from work and hubby said I could spend it on me for once so I'm thinking of what I can get my greedy little hands on! I'll keep an eye out for sales. Thanks for the reply!

5  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / anyone use a crop o dile?? on: October 22, 2009 11:16:38 AM
keep lookin at them and want one but wasn't sure if it's a good investment for jewelry making? I was thinking mostly for making watch bands and leather bracelets. everytime I read reviews on them it's from a scrapbooker. I figured if I got one I could also have my mom sew up some purses and stuff and use the crop o dile on those too. Any comments/reviews would be helpful since I'm po' folk and can't spend 40 bucks on something that's gonna suck! haha. Thanks in advance:)

goodwill is an excellent idea....usually just need battery changes...garage and estate sales are good too. and big/odd lots has nice ones you can just take the band off for cheap.

8  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / watches on: October 14, 2009 03:48:51 AM
my mom has been buying me all kinds of goodies at garage sales lately to play with, but now I have a ton of watches. I want to clean em up and replace the batteries and make new bands for them. question is, does anyone do this and have any suggestions? I'm thinking stretch cord is my best bet but I honestly have no clue. I also thought about ribbon and snaps but not sure how you would make it thick/stiff enough. If anyone has suggestions, pictures, websites, anything, I would really really really appreciate it!!! thanks a bunch:)

10  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Tips for Participating in Craft Fairs / I'm a little nervous... on: September 11, 2009 12:25:59 AM
Hi everyone, I've been lurking for a while now and get tons of ideas from everyone on here! I decided to take a jewelry and design study at home class, and got into making beaded jewelry and what not for fun (plus hubby started playing around with it too and sometimes makes prettier stuff than me! lol) Anyways, we have a little weekly flea market thingy where I live and I want to get a booth, so here's my question. If you sell stuff, what usually goes over pretty well? Bracelets, necklaces, earrings, what styles, bridal stuff, cake toppers for weddings, mobils, etc...I have tons of ideas but would really some input (and encouragement so I don't chicken out) since no one I know has ever really done this before (except my for dad but he's a woodworker...hmmm..scroll saw pendants???) Any advice would be so greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!
