Thank you all!   Grin  She only had a few people who recognized her (a disappointing number of people couldn't remember who She-ra was...   Undecided )  but she would get ecstatic when people did recognize her.  A few asked if she was the devil.  I wanted to back hand them.  But she would just declare "No!  I am the Princess of Power!" and hold her sword in the air.  It was cute and people would look confused and give her candy.

But thank you all again.  I'm just happy to have a chance to share it with people who can appreciate it.   Wink
7  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Princess of Power! SHE-RA!!! on: November 04, 2011 10:18:48 PM
My daughter found She-ra on Netflix and was instantly smitten.  She wanted all the She-ra dolls (because she's five and that is the first thing that she thinks of) so I told her that she could trade in all her Barbies for She-ra dolls and she didn't miss a beat when she swore them all over.  I woke up the next morning to a bag full of Barbies and a pleading look...  so eBay to the rescue...  the kid traded in her 8 Princess Barbies for a dozen (some duplicates) 20+ year old She-ra dolls...  Anyhow, she obviously also had to be She-ra for Halloween.

I made her crown out of a sheet of glittered foam "paper"...  her spats and arm cuffs also were made of the stuff.

She lost that belt that night and I hadn't finished all her embellishments...  so I had to whip up the new one...

For the honor of Greyskull!!!

I made everything but the undershirt and tights.  My dad made her sword.

Her Sword of Protection.  lol  My dad just took up using a skill saw which turned out to be totally awesome!

There are some really spectacular costumes posted up here!  I just wanted to share my little She-ra's.  Thanks for checking it out!

9  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Get Product and Website Opinions / Re: Ripley's Believe It Or Not! Wants My Dress on: May 26, 2011 12:49:40 PM
Do you know how many tabs you've used? Calculate how much it would cost to buy that many cans, then figure out roughly how long you spent doing it and add that to the price. Then add a bit of profit, it's so good!

It's almost 4000 tabs, and I honestly didn't buy one soda for my dress, they were all donated...But I spent over 100 hours on it...So what I'm understanding is if a can of soda's $0.25 it's already $1000, which I think that's a little much...I don't really know though.

$1000 is NOT too high!  First, my husband says that crafters should charge at least $10 per hour for their work.  Secondly, celebrities pay way more than that on gowns...  and this is Ripley's Believe it or Not!  High ball them and see if they have a counter offer.  If you start low, they'd still probably try to work out some negotiation to get it cheaper...

Congrats, BTW!!!  It's awesome!!!
