12  Jumping into the ATC Game in Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) by LimeRiot on: August 11, 2016 07:38:34 PM
Last month, I joined Craftster's ongoing Artist Trading Card (ATC) swap and have been having fun making and receiving ATCs ever since Smiley. Everyone has such inspiring themes to share - it's proving to be great motivation to make messes in my craft room! These are the first couple cards I've made based on my partner's themes of Bill Murray and Foxes.

If you're an uber-fan, you may recognize this bizarre quote from one of Bill Murray's movies. Any guesses?? Spoiler below Smiley.

If you guessed What About Bob? you are officially an uber-fan of Bill Murray!!

I think What About Bob? is one of the most hilarious movies of all time and the dinner scene absolutely kills me, this quote in particular. I'm giggling just typing the words! It's so ridiculous! I mean, of course it's hand-shucked! HA! I thought it would be a fun way represent the Bill Murray theme.

For the Fox theme, I found a picture of a really cool black line tattoo by Christian Lanouette on Pinterest and drew a similar design on the card. I then filled it in with watercolors to pump up the vibrancy.

Both cards are done on hot-press watercolor paper.

I'm planning to continue to play in the ATC swap. I feel so much better when I'm making things and this is an easy swap to keep my artsy-fartsy side motivated. Plus, I'm getting to start my own collection of ATCs from other crafters!

My turn! My turn!! I received an awesome junk journal from our organizer, geekgirl. I've been having so much fun flipping through all of the unique pages and brainstorming what I'll do with it.

Here's the cover! The binding is so cool and I love all of the cool junk spilling out of it.

I had to feature a picture of my favorite page. GOOGLEY EYES!!!!

Look at the teeny little envelope in the corner of this page. So dang cute.

All of the pages are awesome! There are lots of little envelopes and tuck spots hidden throughout. Here are some more of my favorites...

THANK YOU, geekgirl! I love my journal and appreciate you introducing all of us to the wonderful world of junk Smiley.

19  Braidsmaid Knit Shawl in Knitting: Completed Projects by LimeRiot on: March 21, 2016 08:11:41 PM
I was so flattered and excited when everyone's craftster crush, wendiek, asked me to swap with her in the latest IYP!

I wanted to make her something knitted since it's not a craft she does. With the help of some of the mods, I selected a pattern called Braidsmaid by Martina Behm. It was a really fun knit - just the right balance of ease and interest.

The yarn I used a silk blend yarn from Manos del Uruguay. It was a delight to work with!! It has a soft and shiny texture but still feels cozy and warm.

I added extra pattern repeats to make the shawl bigger so that it could easily be worn just draped on the shoulders or all wrapped up around the neck.

It was a fun knit and I think wendiek liked it (that's what really matters Cheesy Smiley)!

20  Re: IYP 28 - Winter Wing Ding GALLERY!! in The Swap Gallery by LimeRiot on: March 18, 2016 07:06:32 AM
My turn!! My turn!! I'm so excited to show off what I received from my craftster crush, wendiek. She spoiled me ROTTEN!

She is an amazing seamstress and I really admire that because it's something I'm not Smiley. Her work is perfection!!

She made me a few different bags. All of which are totally my style and coming with my on a trip I'm leaving on in just a few minutes (her package couldn't have arrived at a better time Cheesy).

LOVE this fabric!

I love me some linen and this one is the perfect size for storing chargers and headphones while travelling.

How fun is this fabric?? And lucky me, wendiek sent me the extra fabric!!

I am seriously blow away by this journal cover she made. The fabrics and colors couldn't be more perfect and her stitching is impeccable!! The designs on the front and back are thread spools. HOW CUTE!!!

She knows that I have a thing for cacti and made this adorable felt version! I've decided to use it as a pincushion! (you can also spot a special gift from the Netherlands in this picture Smiley).

I was just visiting my parent's sheep and their spring lambs yesterday so how perfect is this little picture she sent?

Thank you a TON, wendiek. I love everything to bits!! I wish I could keep gushing about my new goodies but I have a plane to catch Smiley.
