1  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Sewing Olympics 2010 on: February 06, 2010 12:14:01 PM
Hi all. I found this challenge for a Sewing Olympics on this blog and thought I'd help spread the word. The idea is to take on a somewhat challenging sewing project, work on it during the Olympics, and finish in time for the closing ceremonies. What a great way to finish up UFO's or start that pattern that had been sitting in your to-do pile. Here is the link:

2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Re: Quilty Quacky laptop sleeve (now with instructions!) on: January 17, 2010 11:23:08 AM
Nice job! I love that you quilted around some of the ducks.
3  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / flower applique zipper pouches on: January 17, 2010 11:20:26 AM
I am getting in to applique more and more. Here are some new pouches I have made:

Upcycled wool pouch with a poppy. I made the poppy by burning the edges of a satiny fabric cut into a circle and sewed a button in the middle.

Houndstooth pouch with a rose. The rose is made from a strip of knit fabric that I sewed while folding it around and around.

4  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / mustache boxy bag on: January 17, 2010 11:15:53 AM
I have seen mustaches becoming more popular, so I jumped on the bandwagon. This bag is made from an upcycled mens shirt.

I love this!  I would love to steal the idea from you, if you don't mind.  I need some quick and easy projects for gifts.

I love that fabric on the right... I bought it in three or four colours!  Smiley

Thanks. Go right ahead!

I am still experimenting with applique. Made these birdie coasters. Husband thinks they look like cats with a funny tail...I guess they kinda do!

My newest creation. I will make more for my coworkers for Christmas gifts.

8  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Reverse applique coasters on: November 22, 2009 06:00:27 PM

This was my first time doing any applique.
I used this tutorial: http://www.flickr.com/photos/35153082@N06/4125970283/
I think I will make more for Christmas gifts.
