11  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Simplicity pattern help! Please! on: May 03, 2010 12:16:47 PM
Making up patterns I can do (the easy ones that is), for me though, the problems lie in the sizing. For example:

My measurements make me a size 16 here, but I get confused with the bottom bust measurements bit. Which measurement on the pattern do I work from?  Do I just use all the measurements that match up with my size 16 measurements (highlighted in green)?

I hope that makes sense and I'm not just being a bit of a thicko...
12  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Tshirt reconstructions, knickers and some dresses, lots of pics! on: February 08, 2010 12:15:38 PM
I've been loving all the projects on the reconstructed board, especially the tshirt revamps, so though i'd have a go at a few of my own!

First off the knickers. Oh my gosh, when I saw the ones that have been made by other members I had to have a go!

And having worked in a cinema I had some cracking tshirts for the job.

If he's lucky...

And if he's not  Grin

Then I took and old purple tshirt and some Leopard print jersey I had in my stash...

... and made this! I also added a belt made from a black tshirt in my scraps pile.

I also made something for my DD, turning these...

... into this!

She loved it too. I think she appreciates my clashtastic sensibilites Cheesy

Thanks for looking!

I saw this http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=317009.0 and have been dying to have a go! I'm not lucky enough to have as hot a bod as this lady though so drew around a skirt too to get the right shape.

This is the BESt pattern I have ever used! I also did sleeves for the first time yesterday too, and am now on a sleeve frenzy Smiley

After!

Also my new Thundercats skirt from a pillowcase:)

14  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Dinohorsie and herb on: December 04, 2009 07:40:32 AM
My daughter has always called Dinosaurs, Dinohorsies which got me thinking: what would a Dinohorsie look like? I thought something like this...

I was going to add a mane and all sorts, but the fabric is so fab I thought I'd let it be! With the scraps I also made Herb:

Thanks to loveandasandwich who inspired this little fella. My daughter loves the orange one here

15  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Graaawwrr on: November 30, 2009 07:48:41 AM
I made this for my daughter Saturday night, I couldnt be bothered going upstairs to the attic for my sewing machine, so hand stitched it and gave myself a migraine! I was determined to finish it ready for out trip to see Nanna and Grandad though.

You can't really see, but there are teeth on the fastener of the hat too. Hehe.

16  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / House warming present on: November 27, 2009 06:42:48 AM
My friend was at my house the other day, and she loved my daughters rice heat bag (or flubly as we call them, cos thats what they do, they go all 'flubly...), and as she's just moved house, I thought I'd make her one:

See what I did? Its for warming you and it's in the shape of a house!  Sometimes I amaze myself.

Her sofa is navy, so I went with that as my theme, and threw in some Batman fabric for the roof so her boyfriend doesn't feel to girly about using it   Grin

17  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / My Mummy Essentials! on: November 25, 2009 07:56:21 AM
My daughter's at the age now, where I don't need to lug around a huge bag of stuff for her. A couple of nappy's and some baby wipes and we're good to go. A pack of baby wipes though, is about half the size of my handbag. And it ain't pretty. Throw in some nappies and there's hardly room for my Ipod let alone anything else. So I made this:

Big enough to hold three nappies, and a wodge of wipes, but about the size of the original bag of wipes! And a whole lot prettier.
18  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / My first decent dress and my first ever post! on: November 02, 2009 01:56:50 PM
After about a year of trying and making probably six or seven dresses, none of which have fit, I have finally done it! I've finally made an easy peasy aline dress pattern!

I've tried so many different ways, patterns from books, proper patterns, going from my measurement and making it up, but none have worked so far. I seem to be patternly challenged. I never picked the right size, no matter how carefully I'd think I'd worked it out. They either wouldn't go over my boobs, or be so big I couldnt even take them in.

After all this, I have finally done it. It's a very basic shape, is only two peices, and takes about an hour to make! I'm going to have them in every fabric I can find. It also only has a small slit at the top back, and a button to fasten, the same way I make my daughters dresses. I found the fabric in a charity shop for 1 and still have loads left, so she may be getting a matching one.

Here it is!

It doesn't look much here, and it's not a slinky, figure hugging number, but I was looking for something I could throw on with leggings and go about my daily business of mothering and making, but still feel pretty. I didn't want to worry about "holding it in" all the time. You ladies know what I mean.

Add a belt and some skinny, skinny jeans though and...

Apologies for the bad photography, I seem to be getting worse! My Mum took the pic of me wearing it!

Hope you like!
