31  Re: Knitters vs Crocheters Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by EnginerdLisa on: July 17, 2010 05:49:01 AM
I received an awesome package on Tuesday from Amazing_784.  She sent a shrug off my wist and a pair of socks (yay!)

My still shots didn't turn out very good, but the action shots are much better!

I understand why her name is Amazing!  I'm a stinky partner, and my package will be late, hopefully she likes it as much as I like the stuff she sent.  Mine is an item directly off her wist as well.

I received from ckchan today.  I got a really awesome mario bros bracelet.  I couldn't stop giggling after I opened it, I love it so much.  She painted these designs, and they are perfect, I'm in awe of her skill.  The little wooden coins are so light I don't even feel like I am wearing a bracelet.

One of the best swap packages ever!

I received two amazing bracelets from deceptive.fragileness today.  I am wowed by how precise they are.  They are so small, but so yet really intricate, she must have gone cross eyed doing this!  I really want to know how to do the knots on the flat part in between the spirals on the purple one, well I would love to know how to do the spirals as well.

Had to include a close up, just so you can see how fine the details are.  I really want to tie them on my wrist, but I had to ask first, is there any meaning to whihc wrist you put them on?

thanate - DONE!

sloth003- DONE!

I think my favorite block is the one with the flowers and the polka dots.  I made four because I bought four red fabrics, and I liked them all so much!

Pearliepie - DONE!

The paintbox squares were fun (partly because it is my pattern as well and it got me excited about my quilt).  The different strip widths for the solid and pattern messed me up on the first block, I sewed the wrong strips to each block, but after I got it figured out it was all good.  Hope you like them Pearliepie.

klum78 - DONE (finally)

There are 8 total blocks cut apart, a quarter of each one is shown.

donniesgirl - DONE!

I made all the same block to avoid all of the mistakes I saw potentially occurring if I tried to do different ones.

36  Re: FrugALong 2010 February's Theme First Post in Craftalongs by EnginerdLisa on: February 28, 2010 11:28:25 AM
For February I made a crochet body scrubber.  Thanks to Mare Mare for the pattern.  The project wouldn't really be all that frugal since it used almost a half skein of yarn, but it was stash yarn, so it was frugal in this case.

37  Matching lunch bag and yoga mat bag in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by EnginerdLisa on: January 23, 2010 01:30:42 PM
For the gut buster swap I made a matching lunch bag and yoga mat bag.  The lunch bag basically followed this pattern.  http://www.ohfransson.com/oh_fransson/2008/03/vintage-pillowc.html I added a top flap so lunch would stay cold, and changed the handle a bit.  I lined it with a (new) shower curtain liner so it would clean easy.  The liner was really difficult to sew, but I learned that if I put a sheet of paper on top of it I could melt the seams together with my iron, then I only had to sew it into the bag.
The yoga mat bag was my own creation.

38  Painted Yoga Mat in Completed Projects by EnginerdLisa on: January 23, 2010 01:22:21 PM
As part of a swap package I wanted to give my partner a yoga mat.  Unfortunately everything I could find was pastel, and she just didn't seem like a pastel girl to me.  But hey, I'm a crafter right I'll make it work.  I bought a lavender mat and painted a black and silver argyle on it.  I was originally going to use painters tape to mark off the diamonds, but quickly learned that it tears up the mat.  So I instead used a straight edge and black sharpie to draw the diamonds on and then filled them in carefully with acrylic paint.  It took a lot more paint than expected since the mat is textured.  Then I drew the silver lines on with a straight edge and silver sharpie.  I hope it holds up.  I couldn't find anything online for decorating a yoga mat, so I kinda made it all up.

Ok, finally here are the pics of what our wonderful organizer Miss Whitney sent me.

Clearly we were thinking along the same lines, she also sent me a lunch bag and container.  I love the fabric on the bag and the container is just teh right size to keep me from packing too much food.

She also made me a wonderful cook book full of great healthy recipes, I can't wait to try them.  I'm gonna go through tonight and pick out a couple to make next week.  The pages in the book are lovely, decorated with pinup girls and helpful hints and tips.

As I hate drinking water, she decorated a water bottle for me, and stuffed it full of emergen-c, which she promises me doesn't taste like icky artificial sweeteners.

I'm a lucky girl, I'll be drinking water in style, and leaving behind my boring lunches!

By the way, I just bought EA Sports Active for Wii, it totally kicked my but on my first workout!

40  Re: Yarn Swap for Rapunzel Scarf Round 6 ~the gallery~ in The Swap Gallery by EnginerdLisa on: December 04, 2009 04:00:23 PM
I recieved 4 more packages today!  Here they are.

From Flower:

From Pinkleo:

From Littlebluegirl:

From Disco Queen Highness:

I looked at that same purple pom-pom yarn in the store and almost bought it!

I'm loving it so far.  Right now I can't decide if I am going to make one big scarf, or two little ones, then if I make two trying to decide if I should separate by color or make them both random.  HMMMMM too many options.
