1  Re: Dresden Files Swap in The Swap Gallery by Liralen on: September 23, 2011 07:41:06 AM
After fighting with lighting and then with uploading, here are pics from the wonderful package I received from SilverMoon!

It's Sue!  And riding on her neck is...

Harry Dresden!  I love the detail that went into this dinosaur.  She has stripes and eyes and Harry.  It's all I can do to keep my kiddo from stealing her for his own.  I told him that he can't even ask until he reads the books.

Next up is Bob, completely with orange eyes.

This is really well done and has not one, but two pockets.  One for...

A stitch counter and a place for little things.

And one on the bottom to hold this great yarn and a few other surprises.  The yarn can be pulled out of the side of Bob's head.

Also in Bob's head, a Kangaroo keychain.  My kiddo wants to know if this is a bottle opener as well.  I thought I would ask before I go breaking it trying to open a bottle of ginger ale.  And that's the top of Bob's head.

SilverMoon also sent a shield bracelet!  She left it unvarnished so I could paint my own symbols on it if I wanted to.  It looks amazing and I'm quite happy with the shields.

Last, but not least, is this wonderful pentacle and twisty circle.  I love it.

Thank you so much, SilverMoon!  I do have a question, though, is this crochet or knit?  I can't figure it out!

2  Re: Book of Shadows Swap Gallery! (MAIL BY 9/3/11) in The Swap Gallery by Liralen on: September 07, 2011 06:52:41 AM
I received my wonderful package from Muyhippie last night.

He sent a great selection of papers, including a triquetra stamp and two name plate tags.  I'm going to have to investigate how to get one on the front of my BoS.  Then maybe I'll stop switching it around. Smiley

My favorite part of the package was the bookmarks, though.  He made me three ribbon bookmarks with different end pieces.  And there's even one with a feather!  Of course, I'm also fascinated with the way he packaged it - holes cut in cardboard for a backing?  Why did I never think of that???

The small end piece on the orange bookmark is a wooden skull bead.  Very neat.  Now I just have to keep the kiddo from stealing it for himself.

Thank you for a great package!

PianoBabay sent a pretty cool package, don't worry about it! Smiley

And she received what I sent her so I can post pictures!

I made three hemp bracelets with purple/blue glass beads.

A pretty nifty headband.  I also sent her a kerchief which was just half a bandana folded over and hemmed.

Another nifty headband.  This one doesn't really photo well unless it's on your head.  At the back, the three strands merge into one and it is held on with a button.

Spoon pendant.

And a skirt!  PianoBabay likes the rasta colors, so I made her a rasta skirt.  I really liked making this one.  It's floor length. Smiley

4  Re: Big and Beautiful Plus Size Swap Gallery in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by Liralen on: July 22, 2011 06:13:26 AM
I received an awesome package from Shablina!  She sent me a great headband, arm warmers, and a skirt that may become my favorite.

Here is the headband.  It's actually a dark brown with gray.

A pair of arm warmers, yay!  They are the same dark brown and gray, a fantastic combination, and I love the stripes.

And the skirt.  I love the colors in this skirt and it fits pretty well.  It looks like some of the tiers are sewn so the ends can fray which will be nifty.

Action shot taken by the kiddo at force before he could go back to watching tv. Smiley

Thanks, Shablina!

Here are the things I sent Shablina.  I'm not sure if she forgot to post the pictures.  They are slightly crappy pics, no camera let me down.

This was my large.  Up close you can see the multicolored dots on the fabric.  I made a tiered skirt for her.

My kiddo could only be corralled to take one picture and I didn't realize how blurry it was before I sent the package.  This was the first time I made a skirt all the way through and was very happy with the result.

A matching headband.

Shablina said she liked wallets, so I made her one.  I'm quite happy with the way it turned out and I figured out my own pattern for future ones!

Here is the inside of it.  It has a large pocket for cash in the back and four smaller card pockets.

I made her a box bag as she had them on her wist.  I love the fabric, and it's blue inside, but I couldn't find any really heavy interfacing like I wanted.

Whoo!  I received a great package from PianoBabay yesterday.  It was bulging and held together with a rubber band. And JUST realized I didn't take pictures of part of the package.  She sent me a great bracelet and some wonderful leaf earrings.  I'll have to find and take pictures of them when I get home.

Here is all of it, minus the jewelry.  Behold the crochet goodness!

A dish cloth and a crochet turtle.

An awesome bag.  I love the colors of this.  It's going with me next time I go to the farmer's market!  It's bigger than in the picture.

Hair things and a gnome!  She sent me a kerchief, a headband with a mushroom, a green headband, and two bun covers.

I also received these great arm warmers, but sadly they don't fit my arms very well.  They seem to fit the kiddo more so he has snagged them since they are his favorite colors.

I got a shawl!  It's a beautiful blue and a great design.

The last thing in my package was a shrug.  Beautiful colors and wonderfully made.  While it fits my arms great, it doesn't really tie in the front, so I will have to play with it to see if I can make it fit.  The photos didn't turn out like I thought they did, so I apologize for the crappy pics.

Thanks for the wonderful package!

7  Re: Poetry Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by Liralen on: April 12, 2010 03:51:24 PM
I received a great package from PureOath today.  I sent her a bunch of poems with my questionnaire and she picked out a few of the Ginsberg poems.  One of the ones I had chosen was Howl, which is long-winded and full of not-work-safe language, but I absolutely adore this first stanza:

Angel-headed hipsters burning for the ancient heavenly connection
to the starry dynamo in the machinery of night.

She totally got the feel for this in my package!

Here is a beaded necklace and a lined Ginsberg inspired notebook titled The Machinery of Night.  It is so nifty and will come in handy.  On the top of each page, she wrote a phrase from some of the poems I listed.  I think I might have to introduce this idea to my writing group.

These are some wonderful notecards with part of the quote on them.  She left out the 'angelheaded hipsters'. Smiley  So pretty!  Each has a shiny bit on them as well.

PureOath threw in some great earrings as well.  Each is unique and most are stones with embellishments with the metal bits.  Is the white one a stone as well?  I'm pretty sure it is but I couldn't tell.  I love rocks.

And last is this great tote bag!  It will come in handy and is a great way for sharing my favorite poetry.

Thank you so much for an awesome swap!

Everyone's packages are wonderful!  I like the circle bracelet idea and the beautiful end papers of that journal.

I received my package last night and I'm so excited!  Everything is just wonderful and perfect.  Thank you so much, Sullengal!

This is all the loot I received.  Forgive the crappy pictures, but it was late and if I didn't get pictures taken they might not have gotten posted.  Grr on a broken computer.

Is this not fantastic?  I've been working with the Greek Pantheon and she made me three tealight holders.  One for Hestia, one for the Olympians, and one for the Chthonic Gods since Persephone is special to me.  She also crocheted me a pillar!  Also included was a postcard of Athena from her trip the Parthenon in Nashville.  Thank you for sharing that with me.

I would say the candle holders are my favorite thing, but these tie if not take first place.  I've had a hard time finding statues of the God and Goddess that I really like.  I've found one or two but something has always been off.  These are absolutely perfect!

Sullengal also included a beautiful drawstring bag with a dragonfly.  Inside was this wonderful spiral bookmark with a skeleton key and a great stone necklace.

I had a wonderful time.  Thanks for a great swap!

I got a great thank you package from Lovesclutter.  She made me a wonderful hat out of great purple yarn.  She's a beginning crocheter, but she did a great job.  Thank you very much!  I had a great time angeling for you!

10  Let It Be Scarf in Crochet: Completed Projects by Liralen on: February 26, 2010 05:32:41 PM
I was an angel for a swap recently, and my partner loved music.  So I had to create another music scarf for her.  I tried a different technique (embroidering on the crochet) but it didn't want to work as well as I wanted it to, so I went back to sewing on the bits.

Here it is!

This is Let It Be by the Beatles.
