201  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Dotees - Mini Art Dolls - Round 6 SEND OUT Monday 8/10/09 on: July 26, 2009 12:58:47 AM
I received a dotee from Audio-astrophysics today!!

This morning was horrible, just one thing going wrong after another, I ended up having to walk to work, which took an hour (making me an hour late) it was hot and really humid. To say I was in a bad mood wouldn't even begin to cover it.

So, I get home (still in a bad mood) and find a dotee from Audio in the mailbox. OK, I don't usually use the word "cool" to describe things, but, this dotee is COOL!!! It has a really spiritual, serene feeling. I hung it up and looked at it for a while and I could feel the stress disappear, and it reminded me what was really important (creating art  Grin - OK and the other usual stuff, too) It completely changed my mood.

I'm having a lot of computer problems right now (always at the worst possible time) and I can't get it to upload pictures anywhere. I apologize to Audio (and everyone else) for not being able to post pictures right away. We're working on it, and hopefully will get it fixed soon.

Thank you, Audio for the beautiful dotee, it really made my day!

Tattooedcrafter, your son is so cute, I'm glad he likes "The Fuzz" (or whatever you -or your son- name him). I'm sorry he had a nightmare, that's terrifying for a 3 yr. old. Poor little guy. I'm so happy The Fuzz made him feel better.

Update: Photos in gallery!

WHEW!! I cannot tell you how relieved I am that everyone likes the dotees I sent them. I had a lot of second thoughts after I mailed them, and I was pretty stressed about it. It was a lot of fun making them, though. Grin

That is awesome!! I love the little broken heart (is her heart breaking or is it healing)? I really love the paint technique, makes it look like it's painted on wood.

Those are absolutely INCREDIBLE!! I love how old and "antiquey" they look.

Well, I've finished one, and have two that are about halfway finished (should get them finished within the next day or two). I expect to be able to mail them Monday (at the latest, maybe sooner... I'm having trouble finding boxes or something to mail them in). Hope my partners like them.

I clicked on them from the homepage, too. There's so much detail I thought they were going to be a lot bigger. Beautiful!

I love the idea of a little halloween town!

I have a couple of questions:

I haven't been here a month yet (still have 5 more days, I think) after that would I be able to participate in this swap if I haven't participated in any other swaps (I'm a little confused about the rule on that)?

If so, how many dotees would each participant have to make (I'm sorry if it's in the rules, or there's a standard number for swaps or something and I missed it)?

Thank you so much.

That is incredible! It kind of reminds of the animation in the closing credits of the "lemony Snicketts A Series of Unfortunate Events" movie.

That is beautiful! You did that with a gel pen?

Polymer clay might be an idea. There's quite a few simple jewelry ideas women could make, men could make something to affix to a tie tack, maybe?

The only problem is that they would have to be cured in an oven so they wouldn't be able to take them the same day probably.

They could also make ATCs or other demensional artwork that could be framed.
