" They that love beyond the world cannot be separated by it. Death cannot kill what never dies."
Hey everyone! I found a really awesome tutorial for these guys in a craft magazine, and HAD to try them out. I'm a nerd for the Dia de los muertos thing. I wanted to share my creations and give a brief tutorial below the pictures.
Now, for the tutorial.
** Hot glue gun
** Skeleton heads
** Ceramic figures
** Texturing agent, or textured spray paint
** Acrylic paints
** Fabric scraps, seed beads, misc. items for embellishment
1) I went down to my local dollar tree and invested in these little couples, and some skeleton heads.
2.) Well, I didn't have a dremel tool that would easily take their heads off, so I had to chisel and hammer their heads off. (Remember your safety goggles!
3.) After their heads were decapitated I used the skeleton heads and hot-glued them. For the trickier heads that wouldn't easily set on the shoulders, I had to insert a tiny nail at the base of the skeleton head, and then hot-glue the nail to the opening on the figurine.
4.) Well, the figurines I invested in would not easily sand down due to the glaze used on them, so I had to work around it by getting some white textured spray paint to coat it down with. **Adding texture also gives the couple a nice gritty vintage look.
5.) After your romantic couples are assembled, and in place, then paint, hot glue and embellish away!
Well everyone, thanks for taking the time to check out my things! If you have any questions feel free to post, and comments and critiques are ALWAYS welcomed!
