I made Simplicity 5316 view F and C for my son. This pattern was super easy, the hardest part was finding a seperating zipper that small! He has a little growing to do before it fits though!! Action shot, his little arms were lost in there
I made this dress using the pattern new look 6557. I ended up shortening it quite a bit, but otherwise I followed the pattern closely. I wore it to a wedding I went to on the beach Its a fun dress and a pretty easy pattern to follow. Comments are appreciated..
This dress was my first attempt at sewing clothing. I am happy with how it turned out, but there is always room for improvement! If anyone has any tips on how to get lapped zippers to lay flat (this one was 16 inches, scary for a first project!) or ways to avoid the puckers at the ends of my darts where I took it in to make it fit (these are on both sides, maybe hard to see because of the print)...please let me know! I'd love to hear opinions on it!
Okay, I'm not new to sewing, but new to making clothing. I searched the site, but didn't find anything addressing this problem exactly. I am making Simplicity 4531 which calls for what I think is called a lapped zipper. I made a "practice" dress and at the bottom of the zipper I have a little buldge in the fabric that my husband nicely said "looks like you have a tail." Does anyone have any tips to avoid this problem?
I'm sure this is a long shot, and I wasn't quite sure where I should place this post, but... I would like to make a dress out of this fabric to wear to a wedding I have to go to, but the trouble is that I need at least another half a yard to do what I want. I haven't had any luck finding it anywhere again. There is no info on the salvage about it (or it had been cut off). I got it at walmart less than a year ago. Its a cream color with brown roses. Any suggestions would be appreciated!
My newest creations. Messenger bags, I have so much fun thinking of new animal shapes I can make into appliques that would still be reconizable by just the outline. Thanks for looking.
My mother in-law has requested I make her a messenger bag with some purple zebra print material I have...great except she wants the strap to be purple nylon webbing (like the kind of stuff dog leashes are made of). I can find blue, black, red, and white in stores near me but have had no luck finding purple. This picture is another bag I made with the fabric I'm trying to match to. Any suggestions would be helpful, I know it has to exist out there somewhere!
