If I can stop being so wishy washy I would have number 5 started...I'm intimidated by working with _____ as I've never done it before so I keep putting it off.... Although my procrastination means that I crafted a few extras! When I went on vacation at the beach house I found a box full of ______ so I stole some of them and when I got home I used them to make some extras, I made a _____ and some ____, which I've never made before, so it was fun.
Well, while you have the glue out for the magnet, why not decorate the front? Get a circle of chipboard (ha, no pun intended) and put on your own snarky comment or picture. Or you could recycle even more....find like a gallon milk jug cap and add batting and fabric, or modge podge pics, or *gasp* flip that cap around and fill it with resin.
I'm in my first swap right now so I can't organize, but i just had an idea and figured I'd throw it out there....
The holiday season is coming around the corner and I am excited to have company in my new house. All of our entertaining so far has been summer fare, outdoor grilling, coolers of beer and watermelon, and hanging around in the yard, etc.
I'm certainly not wishing summer away, but for some reason tonight I was thinking of a cozy indoor party during the cold months ahead, when it's enjoyable to turn the oven on and have a hot cup of somethin'. I love holidays/fall/winter entertaining, and I thought how cool it would be to swap items for that sort of thing.
For example, it could be coasters, serving trays, wine bottle cozies, recipe boxes, candy dishes, candles, table decor, napkin rings, aprons, wine glass charms, seating place card holders, etc etc. It could be a combination of generic themed items for any kind of indoor party, or a variety of holiday themes (halloween, thanksgiving, december holiday of choice, new year's, etc.) What do you think?
i've completely finished 3 and should be done with the 4th tonight. i'm also working on a few extras. i still don't know what to do for the fifth, although i have some ideas- just nothing that i'm totally excited about-i should clarify- i'm not excited about my ideas, my partners themes and crafts are great!
ooooooo, we're caught up now! I'm also on the verge of craft number 5....my family was in town and rented a cottage this week on the beach at lake erie, so I was rather limited on what I could accomplish, without packing twice of what I already had in the jeep. Babies require a lot of packing. Sheesh. Although craft time with my neices and nephews was fun, we painted beach rocks. That helped give me a fix.
we're allowed to do extras?! yay! I was having a hard time limiting my ideas. maybe I can squeeze in some of them too! I was also feeling "bleh" about one of my ideas until it was done, then I felt better and decided I liked it.
Wow, I had to google Anita Blake because I didn't understand the I love Jean Claude charms. lol Very cute idea for that theme, and great job on everything. The 80's charms are cracking me up, I think I had that exact Popple. lololol
I know exactly what you mean, I always wanted to go to art college for that very reason. i am ridiculously creative, I do a lot of different crafts, always have plenty of supplies on hand, but I very often get paralysed in terms of what to make, what to do, I find myself staring at supplies wanting to do something, but not knowing what to do. I swap a lot, personal swaps and organised swaps because it gives me the 'rules' ie the theme, the sizes, the amounts..and that is what I need to get me moving. This swap is very good for that as the themes and items are different to what I would have chosen and as such stretch me a bit. I just need to start applying these principles to craft/art for myself!!
I'm a full time student ( I also work full time and I'm a single Mom!), I'm going to school to be a Respiratory Therapist but it took me a while to decide on that for my major. There is a two year waiting list to get into those classes and my name won't be drawn until fall of 2010. I'm finished with ALL of the other classes/credits I need but I have to continue to take classes to avoid paying student loans. So this year all I'm taking are art classes, I'm very excited about this!!
QueenNinjaMonkey: That's awesome that you can fill your time with art classes, what a great excuse to sign up for one. What are you taking right now? edel: Have you considered signing up for classes through an art museum? I used to teach bellydance at our museum, but have stepped back since having my son, and as a result, I'm creating art again now that I'm not dancing. I don't really have the desire to teach right now,( motherhood drains the life out of you), but I have considered taking a class for exactly that reason........to show up and be given direction, structure, a project, etc.
I had almost finished an item and was feeling kinda blah about it......then I added some (nouns) and I love it! So I guess I have one item 99% done, another is like 80%, and supplies for two more, and I'm nervous about the last idea...lol
If there was a way to somehow patent this.....you should sell this idea to a restaurant! It would be such a great appetizer. Should I make some sort of bad pun about rolling in dough? lol Thanks for posting recipes too, I might have to try some of them! Also clicking this rocks.....
I just gotta say, I'm loving this whole process. This is my first swap, and I can't believe how much I'm enjoying it! I have been in a creative/artistic slump for a few years, and just recently starting making things here and there...this is throwing me into the fire to and forcing me to work much more consistently, and I love it. I love having a deadline, direction, and a purpose to craft. I was an art major, and I haven't had this type of push to create since college, and I didn't realize how much I thrived on it. I've been a stay at home mom for the past year, and in some ways I miss work, because it used to really demand all my creativity. On the other hand, that's why I didn't do much in my spare time, I was all tapped out! So it's great to have some sort of structure to self discipline myself to create. I used to go to craft stores wanting to make something, and have too many ideas and not enough money to buy it all, and leave with nothing and frustrated. Now, I go with an agenda, and leave with supplies and a plan. LOVE IT.
