21  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: What music do you knit to? on: December 27, 2005 07:16:45 PM
Lately I've been knitting to Sufjan Stevens, Hanne Hukkelberg, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, The Go! Team, Mighty Sparrow and Langhorne Slim.  Anything indie works just fine for me!

I love knitting with cotton.  So smooth and soft and the stitches really even themselves out if you have funky tension every now and then.  I just knitted up this toddler hoodie in cotton and it came out wonderfully (no pics yet, unfortunately).  Easy to knit and didn't take too long.  Pattern:

I love it - and I'm not a fan of that fun fur stuff.  I'm so making an orange one.  After all, what says christmas like an orange tree?

Beautiful!  Think that's one of the best colorways I've seen the clapotis done in.

That is fabulous!!  I have a question though, is it really that warm?

I'm in WI and we get some pretty frigid temps when it's windy in the winter, and I can't wear hats (seriously, doesn't matter the style of hat, I look like I came off the short bus).  So, I was thinking of knitting a cowl-like thing to substitute a winter hat.  Love this pattern the best out of the ones I've seen, but I'm just not sure if it'll be warm enough because of the lace.

Thanks!

27  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / RS vs WS on: July 23, 2005 10:23:39 AM
I should know this, but just need some confirmation.

I'm working on a baby cardigan in stocking st and I'm ready to begin shaping the armholes.  My pattern reads as such:

Proceed in stocking st until from beg measures 73/4 ins, ending with RS facing for next row.

This means I want the knit side (not the purl side) of the piece facing me, correct?

Thanks!

Might want to check on the French.  I swear I remember my french teacher in highschool telling us that je t'adore really doesn't mean i love you.  He said it was je t'aime.  I think the othe mean I really really really like you.  I remember that because it jsut kinda seems opposite, but hey.  Worth double checking.
