3  CLOTHING / Shoes: Discussion and Questions / First Time Moccasin Maker, Help!! on: September 03, 2009 10:03:45 AM
My boyfriend is an avid hunter and with Deer season starting in a few days I want to attempt making some Moccasins from the deer leather him and his roommate are going to make for me. But I have some questions. Looking around on google i've found some tutes on how to make them but I really want to wear them outside as a normal shoe not a house slipper. So my questions are about Rubber Soles.
Where do i get rubber for soles?
How to apply them to the Moccasins?
Do I need Fancy tools?
Thanks for your help guys! I'm really super excited to make these and I really hope they turn out on how i want them to look.
Ps. If you have made moccs and have pics please post them here i would love to see them!! or if you have a really awesome tutes u swear by please post them as well!

6  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / the jump into soap making NEW QUESTION PG 2!! on: June 23, 2009 08:34:43 PM
I've been wanting to make soap for the longest time and have now gotten over the fears of buring myself with lye or blowing up my kitchen and i'm going to make soap this weekend. But first I have a few questions.
1.) since this will be my first time making soap which process is better cold-process and hot-process soap-making?
2.) i've seen different containers to place your soap could i just buy a regular silicon bread loaf pan instead of the "soap mold" silicon pan?
3.) I've seen a lot of ppl suggest to not use scents my first time. Will unscented soap made with coconut Oil and Olive Oil have any of those scents or will it be odorless? If they are odorless is there any dumby proof good scented soap recipe out there? Not that I'm a bad baker i can follow recipes fairly well.
4.) Is there any converter out online so that i don't have to buy a scale and just use a measuring cup?
5.) I know also on here a lot of ppl use those hand mixers can i just hand stir it or will something gravely go wrong with the soap?

Thank you for all your help!
This site has really turned on my "self making mode" and i love it!!!!
