1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Bleached, Embroidered Upcycled Thrift Store Tees on: June 04, 2009 10:55:56 AM

They've been hand-washed directly after the bleaching, then later machine-washed to remove bleach and old person thrift store smell. I then later went in by hand and embroidered them. (Well, all of them but the geisha; she was clipped from a fat quarter and trimmed in lace, which is quite fun, I think.)

Thoughts?
2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Steampunk Skirt on: May 26, 2009 07:10:26 PM

One of my friends had a bunch of steampunk-ish clock fabric that she wanted made into a skirt. We didn't have a pattern, so we freehanded this. We took some leftover lace and added a back panel that I have proceeded to call the "butt ruffle." I added a few extra layers of lace edging and put them along the bottom of the skirt to further accentuate the ruffle. Because we didn't have any fasteners, we wound up making an elastic waist, which made the skirt a little baggier than we might have hoped for, but overall, it's a pretty good first try.
