91  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / Re: Hmm, how to recreate this anthropologie chair-hammock thing..? on: May 21, 2010 10:05:51 PM
When I saw the chair  the first thing I thought was hoola hoops.
And then I stumbled on the lady gaga hoops topic : http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=346393.0 you should check it out, there are great ideas over there.

AND Please let us know if you succeed. I should not have looked at the chair because now I want one too. And even if I could afford it they don't sell it in europe. Sad
92  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / Re: Ideas about attaching cushion to wood chair back without upholstery nails? on: May 21, 2010 09:43:47 PM
maybe just use normal nails. To cover up the nail heads glue a nice trim around the edge of the pillow, over the nails.
Ill have to see if I can find a picture to explain.

Congratulations!  Kiss
It's great to hear that so many have joined craftster! For me especially I think I would have given up crafting if I hadn't stumbled upon this site one late night. So great work saving at least one lonely crafting soul here.  Smiley
95  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / WWTF! ------------ on: May 08, 2010 06:40:47 AM
WHAT WOULD the TOOTH FAIRY craft

OK, so the problem is this: In a few months I'm going to graduate from dental school. As any student I'd like to thank my teachers. But what should I get/craft for middle aged men, who have more money than they  need and thus can buy anything they want/need?!?!
If possible with my skills (I meddle in allmost every craft) I want to craft something as I want something that will show my appreciation and something that will be exclusively from me. Luckily crafting is not done much by students at my school, so anything handmade will be special. It should be sophisticated not cartoony/jokey and not involve teeth. (If I'm anything to judge by, any dentist has more than enough teeth paraphernalia)

I'm at a total loss on this subject.
96  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Re: What to do with all that t-shirt material left from my t-shirt quilt.... on: May 08, 2010 05:18:22 AM
you could cut the t-shirts into strips and make a braided t-shirt rug to complement your quilt.
97  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / Re: Girls Wonderland Whimsy Room Pink/Green/Blue/Yellow on: March 31, 2010 12:15:37 PM
I suggest going even further than suggested above: why won't you let her do the redecorating? I redecorated my room for the first time when I was 14 (ok with help) and I was proud. To me it really felt like my room after that even though I decided to rethink a few things a year later, and again two years later, etc.
It really made me appreciate the great room I had (moved out some years ago), and my friends ask me for interior advice since.....

P.S. As a teenager I would have hated the thought that my mother would 'know' what kind of room I wanted. no pleasing teenagers, is there..?
98  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / Re: Do these exist? (specific tubing/straws) on: February 19, 2010 12:39:37 PM
depending on what kind of lamp you want to make of course. but if it's not meant for a high watt bulb you could try the kind of electrical wire that exists of 2 coated segments (attached) you could take them appart and wire the lamp trough 2 straws. Or check out a special electrical store, they usually have more stuff than a person can imagine. You could also check out miniature model stores for special electrical wires.
99  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / Re: Velvet Painting Frames on: February 19, 2010 12:31:27 PM
how about covering them in velvet? you could choose a nice complimentary colour or something to tie the paintings together. I don't know if you can get the painting out of the frame of course, if you can't then covering the frames would be quite difficult.
