I received from timpani~jax today!

And because a picture can say a thousand words I'll move straight on to the pictures:

the package contained a letter from timpani~jax (on colorfull handmade, selfmade? paper)and the carefully wrapped box.

the box:

the front with one of Muchas beautifully art nouveau ladies

the back, with an intricate patter timpani~jax copied from the embroidery in the Mucha painting (hoe clever is that!?!)

the contents as it was in the box, you can see the cute lace and the felted balls, which I think those Will become part of a necklace...... but that's another thread (of thought Smiley )

the whole contents:

She went with the nature /art nouveau theme and as I mentioned I like felted objects she included four small felted balls, and a scrabble tile pendant, some beads and charms a tiny compass, a tiny bottle with a cork, a old fashioned pen, a leather leaf and the afore mentioned lace.
I love everything!

THANK YOU TIMPANI~JAX!

Yes, the moomin cartoons seem to be well guarded against non paying public.  Undecided  I did find two of my cartoon video tapes at my parents house though, so I'll be submerged in our storage looking for my old videoplayer this weekend  Grin good old 80's&90's vibe!

I did find some cartoons on youtube too, but they seem to be in Italian? not exactly what I remember the moomins speaking. But then I first forgot to look for moomins as I searched the net for ideas, as I've always spelled it as muumi.........

Well I know a dollarstore (well not a 'dollar' store, as I'm not in the U.S. Grin) that sells it. It's like thick yarn made of paper.
I found a blog where someone made one of the paperyarn lamps, you can find it here:

The text is in Finnish, but the photo's are quite clear, I think.

She used a water diluted uhu type of glue.....

Hmm, have you tried wallpaper paste? I ones used that to stiffen bowls made of doilies. In my experience you don't see the wallpaper paste on the fabric/ yarn.
Maybe choose a different medium?
I have seen those kind of lamps made out of papertwine, I think that would hold up better as it's thicker and stiffer.

It also looks like you used regular christmas lights, they produce heat and can thus affect the stiffener. You could try LED christmas lights, they produce much less warmth.

Good luck with your project, I can see where it's going and I agree that it would look lovely hanging in the trees!
