1  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Re: Pearl necklace on: March 05, 2012 12:12:27 AM
WOW, thats a real fashion statement! I couldn't tell the diffrence between the necklaces in the two sets of photographs.
2  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Matchbox Swap round 4! CLOSED Sendouts 2/18/11 on: May 08, 2011 05:11:12 AM
Yay! I received from lukenlarry!  The matchbox she made unfortunately got lost in the post. Sad But she made me a new one and it made it safe and sound across the ocean.

I love the colors on the matchbox. And the dragonfly is glittery, but I couldn't capture that on photo. You'll just have to believe me that the dragonfly really stands out.

I'm not sure what the box is covered with, but i think it's polymer clay.

This is how full she packed the matchbox, it was positively bulging!

Here is everything laid out. I love the necklace, it's got a bit of a hippy/laid back style and it matches my summerwardrobe!  The tiny bits are tiny shells, a button, a chinese button?, pegs, metal swirls that I think I can use in jewelry making, googly eyes in different sizes, stickers, fabric flowers and a stone. Is it tigers eye?

Thank you lukenlarry!

7  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Craftalongs / Re: Fake Swapping Craft-along (ongoing) on: March 25, 2011 01:22:10 PM
hmm, I'm not sure if this works with all sorts of sharpies/ varnishes/ hairsprays, but a friend of mine first seals her sharpie art with a hairspray before applying varnish. I've never tried it myself though..
8  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / Re: Old Trunk on: March 24, 2011 01:07:04 PM
I have a trunk like that! Mine is in better condition though.

Can you hammer the metal parts back in shape? may be add a little glue and get some new nails or use screws and cover the heads with papermache\clay tabs (that you glue on). The metal can be painted, there are special metal paints that can be painted straight over the rust. No sanding, priming, etc it just needs to be cleaned (so not greasy) beforehand. On the big surfaces you could do a decoupage. Get some old books/magazines / coloured pieces of paper and make it your own piece of art!

uh, just had an idea
While browsing through our storage I came across some plant support hoops. They are quite big about 50 cm across (and cheap).

The reason these caught my eye was that two of these had somehow managed to become lodge together creating a ball like structure.

These are the kind of hoops I have (though mine are bigger):

The ball they created was quite sturdy. And with only four 'bones' it would not really show or be hard to cover up with the string.

I think got mine from a dollarstore kind of place.
10  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Re: Old heavy tape dispenser: what to do with it? on: March 24, 2011 12:21:47 PM
Ah, straight away that you mentioned doorstop I thought: elf slipper doorstop. The shape would be perfect!
