1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Military-ish jacket on: June 02, 2010 11:12:52 AM
My first time trying to do a jacket, and my first time using a thick fabric...

The fabric is some sort of wool..
I used a pattern from a Finnish crafts magazine called Moda, I can't remember what issue and I don't know if they publish it in English/other languages...

I might try to get better pictures later... Smiley

Comments, critique etc. are welcome Smiley
2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: Every girl needs a little black dress, this is mine. on: May 29, 2010 04:31:26 AM
So cute!!  Is it satin?
PS At first I thought the white lines through the picture were some kind of embroidery or something, haha!  That would actually be pretty cool, but it's awesome the way it is Smiley
I was thinking the same thing about the white lines, except I thought they were either piping or insets. Just the thought of a white (or some other color, something bright that would pop, maybe) line that started at the hem and curved around the side of the skirt was so awesome that I was a touch disappointed that it turned out not to be. It's still a terrific dress, though! I looks much better than most of my attempts to sew for myself.

The white lines are decorations on the mirror... :'D Maybe I'll try to work out some kind of embroidery etc. if I decide to do another dress... Smiley

Thanks for the comments, everyone Cheesy

I used a pattern from a Finnish Crafts-magazine (if that's the right word for it) called Moda (6/2006), I'm not sure if they publish it in English/other languages...

The dress is made from two different types of cotton, the bust part is a little stretchy while the hem has no stretch at all.

My first post in the clothing thread.. Smiley

This took about 2 days to make.. I had a few problems, but they were solved.
I really like this, I intend to wear it to a friend's graduation party Smiley

A few details..

5  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / Re: ~First stencil~ on: March 15, 2010 10:35:00 AM
Thank you Cheesy
The lines were a total pain because I actually did them by hand, not with a stencil... A lot of measuring was done so they would be as straight as possible.. Cheesy
6  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / ~First stencil~ on: March 15, 2010 08:51:08 AM
Ok, so I wanted try stenciling. I also discovered a great new band a while back...
The result?
A hoodie with their logo on it~
(some shameless advertising, I apoligize; http://www.myspace.com/onewayonesound <-- Check out their music if you're interested Cheesy )

Making the stencil took longer than I thought it would (not to mention I ended up procrastinating a lot..) but other than that it went well.
It's not really as clean as I'd like it to be, but since it's my first I can live with it... :'D I'll do better next time.

I used Marabu Textil paint (248 Sahara)... I really like this color, although I'm usually not into brown... Smiley

I love it, and I like the fact there's no sleeves.. Smiley
Would you mind if I tried to do something similar in the future (assuming I manage to drag my lazy butt to buy fabrics etc..) ? Smiley
