Is anyone else disappointed with the yarn stores that are listed in the back of the book? Or am I the only one who feels slighted?
I live in NC, and the only yarn store listed is a Wal Mart. A frickin' Wal Mart!!!
Where's Great Yarns? And Yarns Etc.? And Cozy? And Knit a Bit? Or any of the stores listed here? Thank goodness I already know about these really awesome, independently-owned yarn shops in my area and around the state, or else I'd be lost in Red Heart/Caron land forever!
But that makes me wonder - are cool stores left out of every state's listing?
Sure, I know it would be impossible to include every single LYS in the entire country. Also, I see that the lists were compiled from write-in submissions. Maybe it's not completely an oversight on the editorial staff's part. Maybe, instead of being annoyed that a (frickin') Wal Mart is the only listing for NC, I should be frustrated that I didn't find out how I could've submitted info. Sigh.
I also know part of my frustration also is due to the fact that I abhore (frickin') Wal Mart. I know that I would not be nearly as upset if the only store that was listed was an independently-owned LYS in a small blink-and-you'll-miss-it rural NC town. I would've seen that as an excuse to get out and do a bit of exploring. But a (frickin') Wal Mart?!?
Ok. Thank you for allowing me to vent. I really do love the book. Really, I do. I spent all night with it last night, and read it cover to cover. So if this is my only gripe with the book, then I say that's not so bad.
So with that said, now I'm off to shop for some yarn for Accidentally On Purpose. (And you can bet your bottom dollar that I'm not going to Wal Mart! )
I was just going through some pics that I had stored on my computer, and I found this picture of an asparagus tart that I made, and thought I'd share it:
If you want to try and make your own, it's so easy. Here's where I found the idea. It's a really easy recipe, and you can substitute almost anything for the topping - you could use spinach, peppers, tomatoes, squash, etc., and you can use any kind of cheese you want, too. So simple! And so yummy!
Just looking at it has made my tummy grumble and my mouth water.... is it dinner time yet?
Hi everyone! I'm anxious as heck to get my site up and running - I'm way behind schedule as it is! But before I load pics of all of my goodies, set up my shopping cart, and officially open for business, I wanted to ask you all for some feedback.
Pretty please can you take a peek at my site and tell me if any tweaking is needed? Specifically, I'd like to make sure that everything looks peachy keen in browsers besides Mozilla and IE6. Please note: Yes, I already know that older versions of Netscape make it look wonky! I've got a solution for that in the works - don't you worry.
Thumbs up? Thumbs down? Anything I should add or change? Be honest - I can take it!
Thanks in advance, y'all. I'm anxiously waiting to hear what you have to say.
Ladies and gentlemen, get ready for a pillow fight!!!
Here's the deal.... everyone who participates will make and receive 1 fabulous completed pillow. Per discussion on this thread, let's everyone try to make a pillow that's close to 12 x12 inches in size. It can be any shape you want, and can be knitted, crocheted, embroidered, sewn, beaded, cross stitched, or anything you want! Just try to make it close to that size. That way, everyone spends about the same amount on shipping, and things stay fair.
Just to keep shipping costs down, I'd like to limit participants to US and Canada. If you're not in the US or Canada and you want to participate, PM me - maybe we can work something out.
