21  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: End of Summer Random Swap (signup July 22-Aug 5; sendout Sept 30) on: September 17, 2012 02:42:19 PM
Well... I was going to the post office to send out today... and alas! The road had flooded and was blocked off!
I took the long drive-completely-around-the-circumference-of-the-city way to work instead of the interstate and stopped by the ghetto post office on my way.
So, finally, sent! Yay!

Woohoo! Finished everything up this weekend and I should be sending Monday if I can make it to the post office before work!

Hopefully finishing up my last few projects this week... I've been procrastinating like nuts.
25  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Tabletop (i.e.- board/card games) Game Themed Swap? on: September 04, 2012 01:05:50 PM
Oooh, train board games! I'm a big fan of Ticket To Ride. If you've never played it I highly recommend it (though I like some of the other versions of it more compared to the core game.
I've never played the Pollyanna board game, but there sure are some awesome vintage games floating around out there. I was looking at some the other day on Etsy and holy crap, there's a ton of them and they're all so... vintage. Lol.

Hopefully some interest gets piqued then!

I remember seeing this  Board Games swap on another craftster's profile one time....

Ahh, yes, nice. That's about on par with something I'd like to see happen. Provided I prefer Euro games, but I realize most people probably prefer more mainstream ones. Maybe not though. Regardless! I think it's be so fun to have another swap like that.

I looked around for a bit on past swaps and swap ideas and didn't see anything... But I was wondering if anyone would be interested in a board game/card game themed swap? I've been tabletop gaming a lot lately (in fact it's becoming an addiction yet again) and I thought it'd be fun to do a swap themed around it if anyone else were interested. I know some of you have to be as geeky as me...

Some general ideas for items could be:
Crafts made out of board/card games (such as the above Monopoly jewelry box, or even game-piece jewelry), crafts referencing or representing favorite games, homemade games from your own ideas, re-envisionings of existing games (there's like a million ways to do variants), thrifted games themselves, or even nice versions of free Print And Play games (I sit on boardgamegeek.com a lot and they have some great ones available--- a printer and maybe some laminate could make for a lovely swap item along with some pretty dice/game pieces).

Swappers could list in a questionnaire their favorite games, their favorite game types (strategy, RPG, wargames, etc.), the kind of in-game items they may need or want (dice, pawns, counters), and things like that.

I think it'd be a pretty easy and fun swap.
I also dig open/random swaps that have more open rules regarding size (I like when you and your partner can craft for each other what you agree on, without adhering to point systems. I feel like it helps everyone stay within their means and gives everyone a chance to swap who may not be interested otherwise due to "large" items being mandatory). I'm also a fan of extended crafting times (3+ weeks).

If anyone's interested maybe it can come to fruition!
I've personally never organized and I'm currently in the middle of doing my second swap, but if there were enough interest in doing a swap like this, maybe someone experienced with doing so could organize, or once my second swap ends (the end of September) maybe someone would be interested in co-organizing?

29  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: For the love of horror! Horror movie swap? on: August 31, 2012 07:10:55 AM
I'd love to do a smaller Halloween/horror swap, especially since I've only got time/$ for the smaller swaps right now and I feel like I'm missing out on a lot of those themes due to that fact.

I'd be interested! I have some stuff that would be perfect for an Art Deco swap!
