Lady Pistola, thank YOU!  You have been seriously fun to swap with!  I loved getting to make things I had no use for!!!  LOL!  Like I told you, there are lots of things I've wanted to try a making like that, but I have no use for them and don't have an etsy shop (yet) so I LOVE it when I can swap with someone who CAN use these things, and I get the best thing in the world, MORE supplies to make MORE stuff!  Cheesy

Here are a couple more pics, including one of it open in case anyone wants to make one for themselves...or swap for one with ME!  Cheesy

Same principal as a checkbook cover, with handles added.  I love that she chose the pirate fabric.  I think it's uber cute for a diaper tote, especially with the 'un-baby' gray I used as a lining.  Thanks so much for swapping with me, Lady Pistola, it was totally fab.

I got my pkg from Disco Queen Highness today and it's awesome!!!  She claimed me for a double sided draft dodger, and the one she made is so pretty...it's a shimmery, dark upholstery fabric, very tough, with an abstract square pattern I really like!  She also claimed for a wisty surprise, and made me 5 flannel hankies, or 'flankies' with the exact fabric I wanted right off my wist!  LOVE THEM!  And she tucked in 6 clips for bag making, and 4 long zippers!

Here is all the loot together:

And here's a closeup on the draft dodger.  This pictures does not do it justice.  It's so hard to capture "shimmer" with a camera:

And here are my flankies and clippies!

The fabric on those is less green, more brown.  They're *perfect*.  I'm going to use those as makeup remover/face cloths.  Here is the picture of my wisted ones, which is true to color:

See how they are exactly what I wanted?  Cheesy

Thank you so much Disco Queen Highness!

I got my *BEAUTEOUS* pkg from tamalama today and WOW what a treasure!  I must say, posting here is going to cause swap anxiety (including in me!) because wow does her work set the bar high.  I got these for my 14 yr old son, and man am I gonna be the uber kewl mom this Christmas.  WOOHOO!  Okay, on to the loot:

She made a stenciled "hacker" shirt for him, because he hacks online video games and creates his own characters, and has absolutely rock solid plans to design video games for a living:

And she made him a PLETHORA of amazing charms of all kinds!  Backpack charms, a cellphone charm, keychains, bookmarks, and a giant safety pin!  OMG...it's amazing what she can do.  All his favorite things from Sonic characters, including his favorite one, Bakugan characters...I swear she made every single one from the mega set I got him last Christmas, junk food, Zelda, a Nintendo DS, a Wii and controller, and chocolate milk!  He's going to seriously freak out.  I tried to get good pics, but it's hard to get close enough to really see the detail on these things:

And tamalama, you have to send me some of your business cards from your Etsy site because everyone in the free world will want to know where we got these!  THANK YOU!!!

I got TWO international packages today!  Cheesy

First, from Arachnea in Canada I got Mod Podge (Can you believe I haven't used stuff since Jr. High?  I can't wait!), cookie cutters, some homemade envelopes (how in the WORLD did you know I love maps?  I don't think I've said that anywhere!), BIG bag of catnip (which is not in the picture because that cat was driving me crazy as I was trying to lay things out so I gave her a glob out in the living room and forgot to bring it back in), two spools of fancy ribbon, and a sweet extra lovely little fused plastic rainbow!

From Arachnea:

Thank you so much, Arachnea!

And then from edelC in Ireland, I received an ankle-length wrap skirt, bits of fancy ribbons, and 4 long zippers that will be awesome for purse-making!

Action shot of skirt:

(I asked her to leave the hem raw, btw)

Closeup of embroidery and sequins on skirt (hard to capture with camera):

And the ribbons and zippers:

Thank you so much, edelC!

I received my supply box from pixieval today!  She sent three pieces of fabric, about a yard each, that are so unique and beautiful and I think could all coordinate, and there's this beautiful chocolatey colored wide ribbon that will be so gorgeous as trim, handbag straps, and other coolness:

...plus a huge KING size 100% cotton sheet with the neatest border, which is so cool, because I want to make blousy lounge pants from it, and that trim along the cuffs will be so neato!

She also sent me a TON of felt, which I can use for Christmas ornaments, other swaps, and some of it for a swap I'm in with her!  LOL!

Thanks, pixieval!

I received my fingerless glovies from pixieval today!  They are SO pretty and SO SO SO soft!  They're bamboo, which feels like absolute heaven against the skin.  And they're loose, so I think a careful wash will shrink them just enough to be perfect.  Thank you, pixieval!  My freaky-cold mouse hand thanks you!

Action shot:

Um, yes that's Sims 2 playing on my laptop in the bkgrd.  In my home office/craft room.  I was...working.

I received my beautiful kitchen starter kit from jungianwanderer today!  The colors are so chocolatey and yummy I just want to go have a mocha and a biscotti.  LOL!  She sent 3 embellished placemats in cappucino, and the little spirals are just so perfect.  They will set a theme for us.  And there are 5 handkerchiefs that are this beautiful paisley that coordinates but doesn't match, which is exactly what I want.  And then there are 4 each of cappucino and espresso colored cotton napkins, and then 3 of the most beautiful, chocolatey dish towels I've ever seen.  And I've looked!

This is *just* the feeling we wanted for our new coffee/cocoa theme in our kitchen.  Thank you so much, jungianwanderer!

The whole spread:

I received my pkg from sweetyetevil today!  And it's f@#$ing fantastic!!!

It's amazing to have something that is so customized, so deeply meaningful, and yet so FUN!  Thank you sooooo much, sweetyetevil for meeting my desires to a T!

Okay, so here's the work of art spread out on a piece of fabric I distressed myself, and which I am turning into a messenger bag, and which I think will look truly wonderful with my new bracelet:

Detail shot, even though it's just slightly embarassing...LOL...but I couldn't NOT show you her work!  And in the middle, my dear, darling rose in barbed wire...I wish I'd been able to get a better picture:

And of course, the action shot:

Thank you so much, sweetyetevil.  I will cherish this forever.

I'm so happy you like it all so much, jungianwanderer.  I discovered a real love (almost obsession!) for that "quote collage" technique, even though it takes hours.  And as I always say, is there anything that cannot be made better by paint pens?   Wink  Now I just want to paint gerber daisies on everything.

I can put up some totally self-gratuitous pics since you're limited to a webcam right now.   Wink

Camera bag/purse (was plain black patent):

Inside, with adjustable foam cushions:

Inside, with Kindle case peeking out of perfect pocket for it that was there when I bought the purse (Oh man was I tickled with that!):

Outside of Kindle Case:

And the words to the quote, in case they're hard to read:

Ray Bradbury:  "Since then, I have never listened to anyone who criticized my taste in space travel, sideshows, or gorillas.  When this occurs, I pack up my dinosaurs and leave the room."

60  Reversible Japanese Knot Bag in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by goddessgarb on: October 20, 2010 10:10:23 PM
Okay, so a great friend on Craftster said she wanted a knot bag but couldn't figure it out, so I looked at several and decided on this great tutorial:

http://blog.craftzine.com/archive/2008/06/japanese_knot_bag_tutorial.html

and made my very first one!  I chose Japanese style fabric I thought she'd like, and it turned out pretty neat!  And the best part, she loves it.   Cheesy  You can see the other fabric, the black and white, on the strap.
