1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / HELP! binding off for neck shaping? on: March 30, 2004 07:21:55 AM
I'm finally to the point of doing the neck shaping on a sweater but I'm confused about where to attach the 2nd ball of yarn.  I know that once I bind off, I have to work the 2 sides separate from then on. Do it attach it before I start binding off and use it to do the bind off or do I start the 2nd ball when I get back to the other side.  I've tried reading several patterns to hopefully figure it out but it hasn't helped.  I'd really appreciate any ideas!!
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / knitting questions--blocking/arm shaping on: March 11, 2004 06:25:53 AM
Hi--I'm making my first sweater (tank style) & have some questions for all you experienced knitters!!  First, can I block some "shape" into yarn that is 50 cotton/50 acrylic?  It is a little too short and a little too wide--not much but I wondered if I could block some length into it and take out the extra width at the same time.  Any thoughts?

Second--my biggest problem is the arm shaping looks terrible.  The pattern says to bind off stitches on 2 rows then bind off more on the next 2 rows.  I keep getting a gap in between the 2 bind off places (because of knitting to the end of the row, if that make any sense at all!!).  What am I doing wrong??  This yarn is pretty thick and it is leaving a big hole!  Thanks for any help!!!
3  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / EASY knitted tank pattern on: December 19, 2003 07:17:42 AM
I'm a total knitting newbie but I want to branch out from making scarves and try making a tank top to increase my skills Grin (and so hopefully I can finish it by summer!!).  Does anyone know of one or where to look?  Thanks!
4  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / scarf with vertical (long) stripes? on: December 11, 2003 09:55:43 AM
I'm new to knitting and want to make a scarf with stripes along the long end, if that makes sense.  I assume you must cast on with more than one color or do you cast on the long edge and then change colors as usual.  I may not be making sense--let me know if I need to clarify!!  Thanks for any help!!
