i'm in love with my new skirt! it's the first non-accessory i've sewn that hasn't turned out rather wonky.
i drafted the pattern from the directions in the book sew what! skirts. the main fabric is a heavyweight cotton shirting, and the pink trim is store-bought bias tape (i was too lazy to make my own, oops). don't mind the extra threads on the zipper shot, i've since removed them. it's kind of hard to see the length (since my brother is so much taller than i, hence the strange angle), but it hits just about at my knee.
i'm planning on ordering the turning twenty quilt pattern from a website, but i have a question. are you supposed to use 20 different fat quarters for the top, or double up on 10 different FQs or what? i'd like to go get the fabric so i can be ready to cut when the pattern arrives.
the second FO in dollface & knittastic09's mini-knitalong series! joy, rapture!
i finished my fake isle from magknits just in time for the warm spring weather! oh well. my boyfriend said it looks like an acid trip hat, but i love it.
it's noro kureyon (i forget what colorway...it's the rainbow one, yanno) and patons classic merino. i took out about 10 rows of the second chart because it was getting to be way too long. it's still a big long for my liking, but i'll deal.
oh, and i can't make a straight face in a photo to save my life.
i've been away at school, and haven't really been able to sew very much. so, naturally, when my spring break began yesterday, the first thing i did was whip up a new bag!
the main fabric is a brown and black houndstooth suiting fabric, and the stripes and lining are cotton. i used the heaviest fusible interfacing i could find, because i like my bags to be sturdy. i cheated a little, i guess, because i bought canvas pre-made straps (that came with hardware and everything!) and packaged piping from joann's, but it's really fine.
i made this cute little hobo-ish tote for my friend priscilla as a graduation present. it's probably in my top 5 favorite purses i've ever made! i like it because it's not too matchy-matchy and i just love the contrast between the two prints. the fabric is from joann's.
