So simple, yet so striking. I love the star.

fantastic Idea!  Love the border.  What did you use for backing? I suppose it is quite heavy?

I'm not sure yet where I'm going with this... I have a few more similar images of the different styles of head dress.  I might make a series.  I am in the process of documenting my impressions of living in the Gulf. If you look back into other things I have posted you will find a few more impressions.

I love the colors.  And the design.  And the yo-yo's.  It is beautiful!

Also called a ghutrah.  Traditional Arab head dress.

In back stitch.
Image from Dubai Graphic Encyclopedia. A great resource.

Hi YumJello

It is in the Town Center Jumeirah in Beach Road.  Next to Mercato.  The shop has been there for about 2 years now.
8  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Marilyn Monroe on: March 21, 2012 10:50:48 PM
A quilt I designed and made.  Inspired by the Andy Warhol painting of Marilyn Monroe.  The quilt measures 2m x 2m and is hand quilted.

I made it to be auctioned for charity at a charity event here in Dubai. The theme of the event is 'Chocolate at the Movies" The gold in her hair is made from chocolate foil-wrappers.  I reinforced it with iron-on interfacing but it is quite fragile and working with it was a challenge!

This is the back of the top layer.
At the moment the quilt hangs in the shop window of the Craft Land shop.  The are sponsoring me.

Yes, it is my own design.  I am busy with an Arabian series.  This is the first one.
10  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Intarsia Portrait on: November 16, 2011 04:18:46 AM

An experiment in intarsia knitting. I used the same pattern I used before for blackwork to make this portrait of my son.
It's not perfect - a lot of tension variation - but it was a good exercise.
