i got this idea while searching all my favorite craft sites, but unfortunately now i cant find the source.  if you know please clue me in.

my grandbaby's name is natalia and i wanted to make something special for her nursery. 
* i have oodles of buttons and i went through them and picked out white, ivory, and pale pastel ones that were all about the same size. 
* then i took brown grocery bags and cut two rectangles for each letter of her name and sewed them together on three sides on my sewing machine, leaving the top unsewn until the end.
* i lightly, in pencil, wrote one letter on each rectangle and then used my glue gun to put the tiniest dot of glue on the back of each button before placing it on the outline
* took a long piece of white ribbon from the dollar store and then sewed each letter onto the ribbon and sewing the final edge of each rectangle

ta-da...her name in a simple style that was easy to do

this is my very first button fairy and i like the way she turned out.  i made her for a swap at another site.  i didnt even know what button fairies were until i saw the swap sign up for trading them.  i found a great tutorial http://artistmargaretfield.blogspot.com/2008/04/button-fairy-tutorial.html that made it easy to do.... i think i did the stringing of the buttons on wire in about 10 minutes after i found the buttons i wanted to use.  i also purchased some feather butterflies at Michael's to use as the base.  the face came from an art book i found at a thrift store. the book was called "angels in art"  i cant wait to make more button fairies with some of the great pictures.

 i found a quick and cute tutorial at  http://www.joyshope.com/2009/05/simple-bandana-dress-tutorial.html   that used two standard-sized bandanas to make a little girl's dress.  i decided to give it a try for my 2-month-old granddaughter.  i didn't have two identical bandanas to use so i just used some cotton fabric and cut two pieces to bandana size. i then followed the directions at joy's hope and whipped it up in no time.  i made a couple alterations to her tutorial.  the most noticeable being i added buttons to where the ribbons attach

i made this from a torn flannel bedsheet (free from the thrift store), a receiving blanket (50 cents at the thrift store), and my fabric stash.  it only took about 20 minutes!  

i cut the hearts from the fabric and zigzagged them to the flannel bedsheet that i had cut to the same size as the blanket.  then i sewed the two flannel "blankets" together to make one that was thicker... i like how it turned out

my last name is rose and i have been wanting to do something with monograms as an accent in our home.  I recently came across this craft letter R for free(!) and decided i would fancy it up.  I got some of those removeable wall stickers at our local rhymes with Holler Free store.  I think it turned out very well.  I love it!
