1  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Monogram wreath on: August 28, 2012 07:51:39 PM
A little housewarming gift I made for my Future mother in law. Smiley

The monogram is wrapped in twine, the roses are burlap (the purple dyed and the yellow spray painted). I also added an uncolored burlap bow and loop for hanging to the top after I took the pictures.

2  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / wallpapering (crappy) Ikea furniture on: September 10, 2011 07:53:07 PM
So, when my boyfriend and I moved in together (two years ago) we decided to keep his bedroom furniture, because I was moving right out of my parents house and had the same (very childlike looking) set I had owned since I was about seven. Anyway, this furniture is from Ikea, and while it's held up nicely, it is just very far from my personal aesthetic and I've grown tired of staring at it. We can't really afford all new furniture, so I'm thinking of ways to make it a little better. I'm basically planning on wallpapering the drawer fronts and the tops, and adding knobs.

The problem I'm having (besides never having wallpapered anything) is that the dresser and matching nightstands are basically particleboard covered with whatever that plasticy stuff that makes it smooth and shiny. Will wallpaper stick to a surface like this? Do any of you have any handy wallpapering furniture tips?

This is what the dresser looks like, and the night stands look exactly like a tiny version of it.

Thanks!
3  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Homemade pesto pizza on: January 10, 2010 05:24:14 AM
My boyfriend loves pizza, so I made this the other day out of leftovers and things we had around the kitchen.

I used:
half a package of store bought fresh whole wheat pizza dough
6 tablespoons homemade pesto [I make batches ahead of time and freeze in 1 tbs size cubes]
1 leftover grilled chicken breast, cut into strips
a small handful of baby spinach leaves
2 medium sized mushrooms, thinly sliced
1 small tomato, thinly sliced
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

It was seriously amazing and took I think a total of like 15 minutes to make.
4  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Valentine's Day / Silly Valentines day card on: January 05, 2010 04:45:23 PM
I made this for my boyfriend for Valentine's day.

It's hard to tell, but I used... whatever those puffy sticky sticker dots are called? to put everything on there, so it has a little dimension. And the turtles are wearing a Hello Kitty bow and a Realtree camouflage Arkansas Razorback's hat. I'd show the inside, but it's nothing crafty, just a boring note.  Smiley
