1  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies / Re: Diaper Stacker\Storage on: June 21, 2010 03:37:45 AM
I haven't seen a diaper stacker in a very long time. I forgot about them! Brings back memories of washing out my little brothers and sisters cloth diapers and folding them later to put back in the diaper stacker.
2  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Father's Day / Re: Father’s Day Project: Framed Civil War Letter as a Homemade Crafty Gift for on: May 14, 2010 12:33:17 PM
What a great gift. I think I am going to do this with some of the love letters my husband sent me while we were dating! I keep them all in a bundle in box under my bed, but this way we could enjoy them. Thanks for the idea. ---Mel
3  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / New Years party favor/gift ideas on: December 28, 2009 06:05:00 PM
We are having a New Years party and I am looking for some party favors or small gifts to make for the kids and teens. Any suggestions?
4  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: Skirt Purse! on: May 12, 2009 10:41:10 AM
I have never seen anything like this! I have been looking at thrift stores and shops for just the right purse to take with me on a trip to down town San Francisco for my brother-in-law's wedding. Maybe I will try to make one like this. I think I have a skirt packed away I could use. I like the way you did the lining so that the skirt could stay flow-y.
If you want to, I'd love to have you submit it for my Mothers Day gift idea contest. The details are on the Mothers Day page of my site.
...My wheels are turning and I'm trying to imagine all the different kinds of skirts at the thrift store you could do this with - leather anyone?

5  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects / Re: Springtime melt and pour soaps on: May 12, 2009 10:32:21 AM
I have never seen a soap with the loofah in it! I love loofah, even for things like washing dishes. Like someone else said, it looks like a cool nature pattern (which I guess it is!) and makes a very unique gift idea. I'd love to have you submit it for my Mothers day gift idea contest, which runs through the end of May. The contest info is on my Mothers Day page, if you are interested.
And by the way, for a novice soap person like me, your designs are pretty fancy!

6  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Mother's Day / Re: Cheap ideas for mothers day stall on: May 12, 2009 10:26:15 AM

Paint a clay pot or other container with chilies or tomatoes and then plant a miniature variety in the pot for mom to enjoy.

You could have the seedlings started a few weeks earlier and just use stencils for the pots. For that matter, you could even use large tin cans and paint them bright colors.

7  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Re: Exams and revision and… NO PRESENT? Oh my! (Help please!) on: May 12, 2009 10:11:17 AM
This would be slightly different since he would have nothing to keep forever...but a memory - and I think those are best of all. What about passes to a variety of local attractions or events (county fair, speedway, museum, downtown festival, etc.)? You could even get someone else in the class to go in with you to get bigger and better passes. For more ideas, you can see this page:

8  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Father's Day / Re: Technology/sporty Dad? on: May 07, 2009 07:47:50 PM
Have you already ruled out a custom mousepad? You can order them really cheap with a photo you upload.

9  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Father's Day / Re: Mothers day, Fathers day, Birthday idea? on: May 07, 2009 07:46:11 PM
EVERYONE needs to hear why they are special and why they are loved! I think its a great idea and very appropriate for a daughter to a father - or step father.
You could also do:
the car windshield
garage door
shower curtain/door
trail of post it notes through the house
fridge
inside of closet door

10  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Father's Day / Re: Need help with a gift idea for dad on: May 07, 2009 07:41:16 PM
You could take a small blank book and decorate it with nascar stickers or whatever you think he will like. Then go around to friends and family...even acquaintances and ask them to write in the book "What I respect about (your dad's name):" and then whatever each person wants to say.
