21  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Re: Earth/ Air/ Fire/ Water Costumes on: October 15, 2005 05:24:18 PM
I was thinking of making multiple fairy costumes based on the elements... lol.  But for clothes... Keep your clothing in the color scheme of the element.

For air maybe a skirt that is breezy flowy very light maybe almost see through fabric in a light yellow, or even white.

Fire.  A gypsy type skirt, with multiple reds and oranges if you can.  You want movement, but not light and flowly.

Water.  A lot like air.  Blues and greens. You want movement and flow.

Earth... for earth I think pants might be good.  Earth is the stable element.  Perhaps sort of think "tree" when you make the costume. Smiley

I like all of these ideas. For water I'd go with something silky or slinky like ...I think it's a rayon blend? the really smooth fabric that is extremely smooth.

For earth I'd say something with texture and heaviness to it like corduroy or wool.

You could have her cut out small flowers from felt and decorate a picture frame and then put a picture of her in it? If she's not really old enough to cut yet she could draw the flowers onto the felt and then you could cut it.

Okay, first off, I just want to say that I adore my new camera very, very much. Wee. Unfortunately I'm having a fight with Crafter's image size limits so I can't show off the up close pictures I got of the magnets.

Secondly, I want to say how much brighter my fridge looks with my new magnets! I have a LOT of magnets but most of them are pretty small so these stand out really nicely.

My animal choices were owls, of course, bears, and coyotes.

There's lots more paper goodies that she sent me but no matter what I do I can't get the image to upload to Craftster, so I'll have to post it later cause it's starting to drive me batty.
Thanks again for all the stuff! I think the orange owl is my favorite out of everything but I'm having a hard time deciding. I hope to have your package out by this weekend, like I said.

Yay! I got my nifty little package from lv2scrpbk this afternoon. She sent some adorable owl magnets along with many paper goodies. I also got my new camera today (WOO!) so once I've figured out all the odds and ends of it today I'll post some pictures of my stuff.

Thanks so much, I love the stuff!

"Join thousands of concerned Amnesty International (AI) members, groups and friends around the world participating in AI's annual Global Write-a-thon.

This international event was initiated by activists at AI-Poland to commemorate International Human Rights Day, December 10, 2002. Last year, AI activists from over thirty countries wrote letters during the Global Write-a-thon. The letters and postcards you write can effect change in the lives of individuals, stop violence against women, and win freedom for Prisoners of Conscience around the world."

Fantastic job! I'm thinking of doing this for my nephew for Christmas. His name's a little long (Michael) so I  may put the letters of his name at the top and have the text going down. How do you guys think that will look?

thanks for the compliment!
here's my idea for michael:
take 7 small canvasas (maybe 4x5?) and do one letter per canvas.  underneath each letter, in small writing, do the little phrase.  it will be something that draws people in to read it.
whaddya think?

I LOVE THAT IDEA. Thank you so much. If I can manage to get the canvases, I'll definitely post when I finish it. Thanks again!

I just opened my etsy shop, mainly because it's SO much easier than having to update my site all the time.  Plus, it's not like ebay, I don't have to constantly take huge risks.  I just hope all goes well!

I love your pink & black scarf.

Me too, I just put in on my favorite items list.
