211  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Givers and needers R10 (signups till Oct 15 Givers: Nov 10, Needers: Nov 30) on: September 27, 2011 10:58:04 AM
Hello! I've never swapped before but I'm considering joining this one. I may be moving soon and so need to destash some. (The last move was a pain!)

I have lots of jewelry stuff (I'd like to get rid of most of it), lots of plain acrylic yarn, some fabric and I noticed someone asked for shrinky dinks. I bought a bag of stuff at the thrift store last week for $2 and there was an unopened package of shrinky dinks in it.  Cheesy I may have some other stuff too...

I have been having a great time with this, but it has definitely made me work outside of my comfort zone.

I think this is one of the best reasons to keep an art journal! To stretch yourself creatively as well as express yourself. That's why I want to make one. ^_^ And good for you for trying! I like your idea of using the alphabet as a starting point too.

I think it's great!  Cheesy I really like all the bits you used on the covers and the fact that most of it came from your grandmother. That's so cool.

I made an art journal for a friend at the beginning of the year and she's already begging me to make her another one.  Roll Eyes lol

Normally I'm not a big fan of Halloween, but I really like this book! My favorite is when you 'cut away' the front of the pumpkin house you also cut away the ground! lol That made me laugh. It's what really made it for me. ^_^

Think I might do something like this as a gift for a friend...
216  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Re: What kind of fabric to use? on: September 13, 2011 08:42:16 AM
Yeah when I went through my stash cotton duck was what I found. I know how it collects tiny pieces of everything. I've used it as an interlining before but I was thinking maybe fleece this time for padding. I haven't made it to Joann's yet but I did find a possibility at Hobby Lobby. Thanks again everyone!  Cheesy

Ooh! Home decor fabric! Good idea Midnight Sun! Home decor fabric is often thicker and sturdier too. ^_^ Thanks so much!

Off to Joann's I go!

Here are instructions for thread belt loops. Hope it helps  Smiley

219  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / What kind of fabric to use? on: September 10, 2011 07:57:50 PM
So I've got a commission for a laptop sleeve. She has asked for a black one. This girl is rough on her stuff so I need something that's going to be durable. (Not that I would want anything flimsy for a laptop sleeve anyway.) But I know this thing is going to be on the floor and everything so it's going to get dirty fast. Being black it might not show general dirt but I've found black fabric tends to show off everything that sticks to it, dust, pet hair, random fuzzies. So anyone know what kind of fabric I can use that will be sturdy enough but won't attract every little piece of dust off the floor?  Huh
220  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Re: Thousands of crayons?? on: September 09, 2011 09:40:26 PM
This is rather involved but I thought why not? It's another cool and useful idea for crayons. ^_^
