11  CLOTHING / Clothing for Curvaceous Craftsters: Discussion and Questions / Re: The Ex Boyfriend Shirt on: April 08, 2007 08:01:02 AM
My suggestion....

Have a party!

...and burn it as a cleansing!!!  Or make a chew toy for your dog? a friends dog? the neighbors dog?  Really... do you want a memory of him?  It could make good "stuffing" for a stuffie or pin cushion!  ...We don't want to waste good fabric now do we? Smiley

Hi, I have purchased a few of these necklaces (and bracelets like them) in China & Taiwan at Jade Markets and Night Markets.  They are something like Chinese knotting.  Be careful because they can come apart and basically unravel......  I have seen some similar things when I researched Macrame.  Maybe that will help you find out more information.

13  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Craftster Itself / Re: Question about profanity on: December 25, 2006 07:38:46 AM
Hi and welcome to Craftsters!  I saw your other introduction post... sounds like you have a fun job!!
As for the "profanity" question... I have seen "words" used in the past but I really think it would be great if you posted it and used the "black bar" as you suggested.  It's not like we wouldn't know what it said or that the kids on here are being "protected" from much but I think it's a very respectful thing to do.  I look forward to seeing your craftiness!!
Merry Christmas!

15  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Re: Dressform question on: November 13, 2006 08:40:30 PM
Is the dress form adjustable?  It appears that the 39"-47" might be a range the Medium form will adjust from and to.  Stereoette has a good suggestion.  If it were me buying the form and spending the money I would probably go to the store and open the darn box and measure the form itself!
16  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: Crochet notions for gift pack? on: November 10, 2006 08:23:55 PM
I have two suggestions.

#1.  Don't buy her sugar and cream yarn.  I know its tempting because its cheap but it very easily "splits" when you are working with and not something a beginner needs to be frustrated with.  I taught about 10 little girls to crochet (ages 8 to 12) and we used sugar and cream.... lots of frustrated little girls.  Not a good idea!

#2.  I purchased for myself at Joann's a "pocket guide for crochet"  It is basically a laminated pamphlet of many stitches... love it!  use it all the time!  Highly recommend and it only costs about 5 dollars unless you use a coupon!

What a great sis you are!
17  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Re: Necchi 2006 Educational Sew & Serge Sewing Machine? on: November 10, 2006 04:28:24 PM
I just have to put my 2 cents in on the OLD Necchi sewing machines.....not the "new" we over manufactured bit.  My first machine was/is a Necchi with the Cams that drop into the top to create different embroidery stitches.  Its all metal and in its day was amazing.  I only say "in its day" because right now its folded up in the cabinet right below my laptop computer and has not been used in ages!  When I used it... it was a wonderful machine.  so... if you get the chance to get your hands on an old one I would highly recommend it.  And yes... stay away from those "we didn't get the order from the local Home-Economics dept" ads!  ha!  have fun with whatever machine you decide on.  Oh and I use a Huskystar 219 made by Huskvarna... Love it.  it's purple!  and was a very conservative machine to invest in.

20  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Re: copying designer clothing - illegal? on: August 14, 2006 10:49:45 AM
No... it is not illegal to copy designer clothing.  To be quite frank and honest that is exactly what everyone does.  Trust me... I work in the apparel industry and it is not illegal.... if it was the jails would be full of prissy knock off artists and not criminals Wink
