I've very wary about this (hah I made a rhyme! okay.. anyways) but my sister is getting married in a week & 1/2 and she wants to iron out her veil somehow, because it's a little wrinkly. But is it okay to iron/ steam tulle? I'm worried that something might happen to it, so I figured I'd check here first! Thanks, all!
So one of my friends this year is a foreign exchange student from Italy and I want to get her something really cool to help her remember her time here. She really likes music, and isn't too familiar with American music, so I was thinking of making a bunch of CDs, but I want to do something else cool in addition. Any ideas?
So, for Halloween last year, I was little red riding hood. Creative as I am, I am STUCK on what to be this year, and I want it to be cooler than little ole' red. Does anyone have any ideas? I am a moderately good seamstress and could probably concoct any idea, but to a varying degree of coolness . Plus, looking at pre-made halloween costumes makes me kind of sick- I mean, I want to be cute, but I'm not really in the mood to be "ultra sexy hot mama tinkerbelle". I mean, come on...
My sister and I are very close, and she just recently graduated from college and got a job about 2 1/2 hours away. She is all alone and a brand new teacher, and I'd LOVE to send her a care package with some things to help her cheer up about being homesick.
So far I just have a few things she loves, like a new cd I made, homemade bath salts, and some scrapbook pages. But I really want this to be a chock-full box, possibly even enough gifts to open every day for a week or two? Any ideas at all would be appreciated. Like I said, she is a teacher, loves to excercise, read, scrapbook, listen to music, etc. I was thinking of more homemade bathy/beauty things I could make would be cool, too. But I'm not really sure what else I could make besides lipgloss? Anyways, thanks for any help @ all!
I've always wanted a sock monkey, so I thought I'd give it a try with some cheap-o gold star clearance Kohl's brand I got these pink socks with kitties and "I love cats" printed all over them. So, here's my monkey- a little crudely sewn, my !@&* sewing machine flaked out on me
P.S. She's "bootylicious" because I happened to stuff her butt reallly FULL and didn't realize it 'till she was sewn shut.. I think I might name her Beyonce or something like that
I wanted to make my mom a traditional tote bag, and I was wondering if I could use a burlappy type fabric as the outer material, and a cotton blend for the inside. I don't know if it will work, if anyone has sewn with it before, etc. If anyone has had experiance sewing it, should I not use it? Thanks, guys!
So, I know this isn't some really cool "I just found 5,000 bottlecaps!" type of thread, but I have about a bajillion strips of this really pretty fabric & some really nice fleece. The strips are around 3' long and 3" across. I don't want to throw them away- the seamstress in me just CAN'T! So.. does anyone know what I can do with them? I mean... besides some crazy striped blanket or something
So, my mom wanted one of those quilted purses but absolutely did NOT want to dish out the dinero to buy one. So she enlisted me to find some pretty quilted fabric and I did- just what she wanted. So I fished out the ole' jordy tute and now she has a gorgeous, expensive looking purse (I can't think of the name for the brand of these that are actually expensive, but...) that I made for $5!!
Comments? Critiques? Etc, etc?
^ this is the purse all done!
^ Here's the purse inside colors and ugly velcro- oh, and sorry for the finger in there- oops!
