3  well, I tred, nimblefingers! in Crochet: Completed Projects by green_treezilla on: October 25, 2009 06:19:43 AM
I used http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=325069.0 <--- this to make this:

BUT I don't think it turned out quite right. Either way, this is how it looks on me... (I'll apologize for the crapiness of the picture now.)

Not sure what went wrong, I think it was the stitching together. But even so, I made it! And thank you for the pattern nimblefingers. Smiley

4  Magic Cookies! A nice couple of pictures, as well. in Vegetarian / Vegan by green_treezilla on: October 11, 2009 09:28:08 AM
There used to be this awesome restaurant near my house, Down to Earth.. they closed down for some unfortunate reason. Then they put out a cookbook, which my aunt promptly bought. This morning I made one of my personal favorites: Magic Cookies. They are pefect for fall, in my opinion.

I don't know if I can post the recipe, since it's from a cook book... but I think I can, so I'll type it up a little later. Thanks for looking!

Then we took a bottle break. Smiley

Obviously he was getting quite tired! Those eyes.
Baking time.... and a costume change. Preparation for the Giants game later. Cheesy

And the finished result......

YUM.

And here's a Happy October/Halloween for good measure....

EDIT::: RECIPE!

Dry:
- 1 cup unbleached flour
- 3/4 cup shredded carrot
- 1 cup coconut
- 1 cup florida crystals (I just used turbinado raw sugar)
- 1 cup uncooked rolled oats
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt

Wet:
- 2 tablespoons solid coonut oil, melted
- 1/3 cup water
- 1/4 cup canola oil
- 1&1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract

For the last bit:
- 2/3 cup chocolate chip
- 2 cups pecans, chopped

Preheat oven to 350*
Line large baking sheet with parchment paper & set aside.

1. Mix together flour, carrots, coconut, Florida Crystals, oats, baking powder and salt in one large bowl.

2. In another bowl, less large, mix together the coconut oil, water, canola oil, and vanilla.

3. Add wet & dry ingradients, and mix well to combine.

4. Stir in the chocolate chips and pecans.

5. Use a 1/4 cup scoop to plce mouns of dough onto the prepared baking sheet. Space 2" apart and flatten with your palm. Bake 10-15 or until golden brown.

6. Remove from oven and let cool on the baking sheet.

The recipe says it yields nine cookies, but last time my aunt made them she got 11 and this morning I got 7 - so they can be made really any size you want. Just change the cooking time.
Also, for any all-raw dieters like my friend N8 used to be, the dough is yummy without being cooked too. Smiley Most likely the reason I only got 7 out of my batch...

6  A few things. A couple of pictures. in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by green_treezilla on: August 27, 2009 06:28:02 PM
These are a few drawings I have made since this past winter. I guess closer to through this year. This first one is a tree monster I drew while in the hospital waiting room. I colored her later with marker.

This one is watercolor pencils. A flower faerie?

Here is another one in watercolor pencils. A girl and some stuff.

One of my favorite artists.

Just some sketching, covered with ink, but the pencil didn't erase that well.

Pineapple man. Markers.

7  Help, please, with this big project! in Needlework: Discussion and Questions by green_treezilla on: August 25, 2009 04:37:50 PM
It might not be big to some, but I only started needlework about last month, so this is a big deal for me!

A couple of years ago, my English teacher made a huge impression on me, and now that I'm in my last year, I want to thank him before I never see him again. So I wanted to stitch this picture:

Onto a handkerchief. I don't think I can draw that onto the handkerchief free-hand, or ruin it with ink... How can I get this onto the handkerchief properly? Anyone able to help? Thanks!
