That looks so cool -> and I'm glad your bunny got a home Smiley

I haven't been doing much, but since this last hurricane (I'm from New Jersey) I've had a lot of down time.

I was bad this weekend, no stitching yet.   Roll Eyes  I do admit having a huge distraction last night.  I got a bunny.   Grin

Bunny! I got a kitten Cheesy

I hear you about the metallics >_< Why do we keep torturing ourselves?

For the xstitch I am working on, I had metallics in my background, and the simplest solution was to keep it wet (I usually just licked it) and short.
It's a bit longer to stitch but it made it heaps easier.

@Listessa: I remember that cross stitch from 2010! I'm so excited to see you have found the motivation to stitch again Smiley
@Melladh: That looks so cute, I would be excited everytime I finished a bird too.

I've been stitching along and decided to increase the border - which brought me back a couple weeks, but here's my progress Smiley

Hi guys! For those of you who have been around here awhile, back in '10 I made a greyscale star trek cross stitch..well I'm back.

I'm making a gaming cross stitch for my friend that's going to be 150x150. I currently finished one 50x50 square that showcases portal, the rest of the xstitch will be told once I finish stitching it (gotta keep some of the magic)

Here's the finished block (I haven't updated the picture since the background has been finished)

And it glows in the dark

And here's what the full thing is going to look like (I still have to fix some of the border-the shimmering floss is such a b!tch to use.)

WOW! I am in awe of your skill, and squeeled in Star Trek geek-love. Where did you get the amazing pattern?
I actually bought a program called Stitch 2008, which converts pictures into counted cross stitch patterns. Its a little pricey but I'm quite content with the outcome Smiley

I have two teenagers that would absolutely love your work! I Third the hanging though, make or purchase a modern yet Treky style frame (thinking a mat silver) with a black matting.
As a kid being the only daughter with 3 brothers I think I have watched every Star Trek show-how could I not like your cross stitch art?

C
ps, you should have put a tribble in Kirks arms! lol
Ohh! I want to learn to crochet JUST so I can make a tribble some day Smiley
And I totally know the feeling, when I was little my father sat me down and had me watch Twilight Zone, Star Trek and Star Wars Smiley

Was the original pattern something you purchased or ...how did you get the image on the fabric to use as your pattern?

I used a program named stitch 2008 to convert the picture to a counted cross stitch, which doesn't have the image printed on the fabric Smiley I could never get the printed cross stitches right Undecided

I absolutely LOVE Spock and Star Trek! It would be so great if I could find the pattern somewhere! Pleeeeeeeese share your secret!!! Huggles and kissies?  Kiss

If you really want the pattern, you first have to download a trial version of Stitch 2008, and then I can email you my pattern and you can open it in your trial and print it. You just can't change anything about the pattern itself.

If you don't want to go through the trouble, a very kind person on DeviantArt made Star Trek TOS patterns here : http://black-lupin.deviantart.com/art/Star-Trek-TOS-Cross-Stitch-134307978

Thank you everyone for the kind comments Smiley I ended up making it into a pillow (although the silver and black frame would have been nifty) and it can be found here : http://coincollect408.deviantart.com/art/Star-Trek-Pillow-149628265

@leannerd : That looks so cool! I'm so excited to see this finished; Link is one of my favorite video games characters. Cheesy
@Sewsew-a-Gogo : This is looking amazing! I'm so glad you stuck with it, its going to look phenominal when you're finished.
@HistoricalNeedle : I've been watching you on DeviantArt and I must say your cross stitch still looks amazing Cheesy Almost finished.
I just started a project that's 250x100 stitches (not including a border I might do), and although its fairly smaller than the last project I finished, is it big enough to post pictures in this thread?

The cross stitch is amazing!  How long did it take you do do?!
I officially started the cross stitch in May and took off two months in between for school, so about 5 - 6 months.

Thank you all for the kind comments, they really made me smile Cheesy

Thank you guys for all the comments! They made me smile as I read through them Smiley
I'm probably not going to start a larger project again for awhile, since I have to catch my breath a bit, but I will be lurking and offering support to anyone who decides to continue next year.
Thank you guys again, and Happy New Years Cheesy

I finished this piece while in the Big Project Stitchalong http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=285603.0

Time Taken: 8 months
Number of Colors: 17
Final Size: 262 x 207 squares
I was motivated to finish this when the new Star Trek Movie came out, so it understandably took me longer than I thought it would.
I'm going to sew it into a pillow, which will be posted on deviantart  ( http://coincollect408.deviantart.com )
For those of you who don't know, this is Spock and Kirk from the Original Series of Star Trek Smiley

I think this fits here Smiley

Its a cross stitch of Spock and Kirk from TOS. I'm actually quite fond of it.
