1  CROCHET / Crochetalongs / Re: ORGANIZING: Granny-A-Day for JUNE - 6/1/10-6/30/10 on: May 26, 2010 10:07:41 AM
Ohhh can I join?  I am preggers and due July 28th, I have started blankets for my little tweaker but I get bored and the ADD kicks in and then I frog Sad  I think I am going to do a continuous Bobby Square (I don't think the pattern is available any more but I will post pics of it as I go).

Thank you for the compliments!  I used this pattern: http://www.lulu.com/content/e-book/crochet-pattern---9-pointed-star-round-ripple/3016474

It's a very easy pattern and with chunky yarn or two strands of yarn it works up fast.

Here's a round ripple I made for my cousin who is due in October.  Her baby shower was the 30th of Aug. but I couldn't make it so this will be taken to her in a few weeks.  I used Bernat Softee Chunky in Hot pink, black and off white.  It measures 53" from point to point and took me 5 days off and on crocheting to finish.

4  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / Re: Embroidery question on: August 24, 2009 05:11:47 AM
Thanks for the help!

I was definately going to do the roses in red.  But I think I am going to take lisalady161 idea and do it on black fleece...that is if I can figure out how to get the design on black fabric  Wink  Now to get the fabric...it sucks being broke when I have so many ideas and things I want to do that require supplies.
5  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / Embroidery question on: August 21, 2009 12:44:37 PM
Ok so I want to surprise my fiancee with a throw for our wedding.  Its going to be halloween this year so I drew up this picture:

Now Im new to embroidery but not new to cross stitch and I bought a cross stitch blanket a while ago almost like this one:
http://www.joann.com/joann/catalog.jsp?CATID=cat2887&PRODID=prd12188

my question is it possible to embroider on this type of material seens how its made for cross stitching?

P.S. Ignore the Octob on the one side I couldn't get it to look the way I wanted it to so I decided to go with the 10-31-09 instead

I absolutely love this!  My mom survived a brain tumor that could have taken her life within 2 hours if they had not operated on it and she has been cancer free for 18 years!  However the doctors say it will come back with no chances of surviving it when she is between 63 and 65 years old.  I also lost my grandmother 7 years ago to complications of stage 3 or stage 4 (not sure which stage exactly) breast cancer.  So I will say it too  FUCK CANCER!!!

I bought the pattern from Pepperberry, on Etsy.com. It's a great pattern.

Thanks so much!   I think I am going to have to invest in this pattern.

OMG I love this....I have about 3 Nautical star tattoos so I'm slightly partial but this is wonderful!!  Did you make up the pattern?

that is beautiful, can you tell me where to find the pattern?

Here is the link for the pattern.  You will most likely have to make your own graph but it has the whole alphabet so you can do it yourself Smiley

WOW

this is sooo beautiful..... i wish i could  craft something like that, too...

how long did it take?

It took about two weeks to do but that was with on and off crocheting.  I suffer from ADD so I get bored with one project very easily.  It would have taken longer if I hadn't had a two week deadline though Grin  It's really quite easy.
