I made these microbe stuffies for a friend.  My inspiration came from giantmicrobes.com.  This was my first time, so they are a little rough.

Patty the platelet
Robby the red blood cell
Willy the white blood cell

52  Bottle Cap Resin Magnets Galore! in Completed Projects by flower on: January 24, 2009 10:27:43 AM
I made my sister-in-law these bottle cap magnets and pushpins for Christmas:

She called me a week later and asked how to make them.  Here are her gorgeous creations.  My favorite are the word tiles.  She is a reading professor.  How appropriate!  I am so proud of her!

My partner, KCMonkey, is AMAZING!  This first time swapper used all 5 of my themes, made me laugh (and snort) out loud, and must have figured out that I'm a little ADD and like to change things up constantly.

First, I must show off the pretty wrapping paper:

She made me a wallhanging for some of my favorite quotes.  The quotes are interchangable!!  How cool is that?

Here are the quotes:

Join the dork side
talk nerdy to me
Billy was a chemist's son but Billy is no more.  What he thought was H2O was H2SO4
Note to self: not everything tastes like chicken

Crafting keeps the voices away
Fastest glue-gun slinger east of the Mississippi
I'm into mixed martial arts and crafts: kickin' ass and knittin' socks
Stitchy woman

That's what she said!
I am Legen...wait for it...Dary!
It's time for rock paper scissors lizard spock
It's not rocket surgery

This land is your land, this land is my land, sure, but the world is run by those that never listen to music anyway.  ~Bob Dylan
Take care of all your memories, for you cannot relive them.  ~Bob Dylan

She even put a storage pocket in the back!

Are you all jealous yet?

KCMonkey, thank you for  being the best swap partner EVER!

54  Monkey Pin Cushion Ring in Completed Projects by flower on: January 15, 2009 01:53:51 PM
I made this pin cushion ring for the OTT 20 swap.  I was inspired by the sock monkey pin cushion ring at dottyral.etsy.com.

I had fun making this and didn't spend a dime!

Supplies used:
scraps of a felted sweater
wiggle eyes
beading accessories (the eyelashes)
embroidery floss
ribbon
beer cap (inside, in the bottom so you don't stab yourself with a pin)
an old adjustable ring.

Comments and suggestions always welcome.

55  embroidered bat t-shirt in Needlework: Completed Projects by flower on: December 25, 2008 10:41:20 AM
I made this for my nephew.  I should have unfolded the shirt for the pic, but the gift is already wrapped.

sorry about the photo quality.  Sad

56  embroidered hand print shirt - easy grandma gift! in Needlework: Completed Projects by flower on: December 24, 2008 05:56:34 AM
I made this for my mother-in-law.  I thought about the more traditional paint handprints, but 3 of the children are in another state.  Their mom traced their hands and sent them to me instead.

EDIT: If I could do it again, I would have stitched the hands using the flower pot design here:

57  magnets & thumbtacks from glass beads, beer caps & resin in Completed Projects by flower on: December 24, 2008 05:48:17 AM
These thumbtacks and/or magnets are a great way to use up odds & ends glass beads. Here is how you do it:

1) sort beads by color.
2) cram as many beads of one color into the cap as you can
3) pour 2-part resin into the beer cap
4) wait for resin to dry
5) glue magnet or tack on the back
6) enjoy!

Sorry for the poor photo quality  Embarrassed

Comments and criticism are always welcome!

58  Vampire Bat Stuffies - embroidered felt in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by flower on: December 22, 2008 08:26:39 AM
These are just a few of Santa's last minute craft projects.  My sister, wisegirl, found a knitting pattern for bat stuffies a few months ago.  I don't knit so I made a felt version.  The little wings have a button & button hole so you can keep them opened or closed.  Next time I will use 2 layers of fabric on the wings so I can hide the "ugly" side of the embroidery.  Also, I don't like the feet but my son is a bat nerd and I knew that if I left them off he would notice.

59  Re: Rapunzel, rapunzel, let down your hair! (scarf) in Craftalongs by flower on: December 13, 2008 04:19:29 PM

I made these to give as Christmas gifts.  My sister, wisegirl, selected the yarn for me.  I'm not sure how I feel about the furry yarn.  I might pull it out of the braids.  Any suggestions are appreciated.

katie_ramone9 sent me the most beautiful, teenie, tiny rosary.  The main loop barely fits on my wrist.  It was the most wonderful surprise.  I did not ask for a rosary or ever expect to receive one, but I will truly cherish it - and use it!  Katie, thank you for the lovely and very thoughtful gift.  I adore it!

I only wish I had a camera that took better pictures so you all can appreciate it as much as I do.
