I received an awesome package from Melazdee!

Melazdee sent me TONS of stickers (already being used for my sons' sticker charts), scrapbooking paper, stencils, stamps, and stick-on gems.

She also sent me lots of fabric, corks, ribbon, beads, more stamps, a metal frame for a purse (I have great ideas for this already!), wire, metal rings (these will be used very soon), and embroidery accessories.

Melazdee, thank you for the AMAZING swap package.  You rock!  Smiley

Oops Creation, thanks for organizing this swap.  Smiley

I received from itchyfingers and she sent me wonderful and USEFUL goodies!

Two kinds of swiffer covers and a hand duster:

A lovely tote from scrap fabric.  The straps are corduroy and very strong!  I love the bright colors:

An adorable t-shirt for my baby.  It says "Mini Geek" and has Erlenmery flasks.  It is a nice, big size.

Thank you, itchyfingers!

tracethekat sent me the most adorable flask stuffie.  Check it out!

As you can see, he is already happily sitting on a lab table in my classroom.  The kids named him Erl since he's an Erlenmeyer flask.  Thank you, tracethekat!

Now, the best for last!!  A Metric Day Calendar.  It is so very, very awesome.  Every single page is so funny and clever!  My math teacher friend is going to be soooooo jealous!  Here are a few highlights:

Swap Details
The idea is to make one tiny craft item with a science and/or geek theme. It should be physically small and should be something that you can craft with a high level of skill. Even if it is a fairly simple/easy item for you to make, please embellish so that it best represents your skill. (For example, if you wish to make a coin purse, you could embroider, add beading, or take other steps to make it a really special piece.)
• You will receive only one partner.
• You may only send that partner ONE tiny craft - "extras" are not allowed.
• All items must be 4"x4" or smaller.
.

How do you know if your idea is "tiny?" Examples: A coin purse is tiny; a clutch purse is not. A pair of earrings/pendant is tiny. A trinket box is tiny; a pencil box is not. If you're not sure if your idea qualifies as "tiny," ask your organizer!

For a wonderful swap experience, communication is the key. Please keep in touch with your partner. Further, it would be nice if you would post in this thread at least once a week (you could just stop in for a quick hello.....or if on holiday or will be without internet access or anything of the such, just post a message....it gives your partner and organizer warm fuzzy feelings to know you are still around).

If you want to participate, information to send to organizer: (Remember to send your info to your organizer via Private Message (PM) and not to reply with it here)

QUESTIONNAIRE TO ANSWER:
Name of swap: Science/Geek OTT
Craftster username
Email address
Your real name
Mailing address including the country (as would need to appear for mailing)
Would you be willing to ship to an address outside your own country?
Confirm that are at least 16 years old or, if not, that you have moderator approval(YES/NO)

What are you favorite crafts to make?
What kind of crafts would you like to receive?
Do you have any allergies?
Do you/people in your household smoke?
Do you have pets?

Describe your favorite science and/or geek things.  Some things you might include are specific science/geek subjects, books, TV shows, movies, organizations, quotes, etc.

Is there anything else you would like you’re partner to know?

END OF QUESTIONNAIRE

Please label Personal Messages (PMs) to organizer with title of "Science/Geek OTT swap". When you send, label message as "SENT: Science/Geek OTT Swap". (don't forget to include your DC#). Send this message to the organizer and your partner. When you receive, label message as "RECEIVED: Science/Geek OTT swap". Send this message to the organizer and your partner.

Notes about Sending, Receiving, and Feedback
• SENDING: Take pictures of your items before you send. When sending, you must use a DC# (or for overseas keep that receipt). Keep your receipt until your partner receives. PM organizer and partner when you send.
• RECEIVING: PM organizer and partner when you receive. Take pictures of received items. (Please take quality pictures, like ones you would take of your work.) Post pictures in gallery in a timely manner.
• FEEDBACK: Given when a package is received (verified through PM or DC#) I will be keeping track of what has been received by gallery pictures (This is why it is important for you to take pictures of your items, just in case your partner does not) *Please PM if there is difficulty with pictures.* NOTE: Lack of communication and explanation, such as no PMs of sending/receiving, will be noted in your feedback.
.
Also, remember to read the Swap Info Guide to find other rules about participating in a swap.

Thanks to all previous OTT Organizers!

27  Re: Quick and Easy Swap Round 2 - GALLERY in The Swap Gallery by flower on: March 22, 2010 01:18:42 PM
I received from the amazing Disco Queen Highness several days ago, but was unable to post until today.  I've been at the state Science Olympiad competition with my middle school nerd herd.  Smiley

DQH sent me several things since nothing on my wists added up to a medium project.  First, three packages of roving.  Aren't the colors perfect for spring?  You will also notice the giant pile of MOHAIR yarn.  She's allergic to it, so she used it to pad the rest of the package.  Can you say awesome?

DQH made me a mini-hackle for blending different rovings.  I tried to show an action shot...I'm not sure how clear it is, but here we go.

And finally, the most awesome item, the Periodic Table GEEK tote.  I took it with me on my Science Olympiad trip.  Oh, yes.  My kids adored the bag.

Thank you, Disco Queen Highness!!!  This has been an amazing swap!  You are just an awesome partner.

Everything in the gallery is just great!  Here are the goodies I received from sloanlaw.  Please forgive the cell phone pics.  That's the only camera I have right now. Tongue  sloanlaw, if you have better pics, feel free to post them.  We both have babies and decided to craft for them.

First, she sent this cute burp cloth for pencil day.

She made this super-soft taggie in honor of the first space walk.

Here is my favorite! A bib for Mister Roger's birthday.

sloanlaw also sent me little cowboy wash cloths.  The are soft but ridged on the back side.  I think they'll be great for the bath tub!

Thank you sloanlaw!  We love everything.  Smiley Smiley Smiley Smiley

Grenouille78 sent me the most awesome package!  She also did some serious stalking!

She made beautiful, comfy slippers, two dish cloths (so pretty), and a snake draft dodger.  Aren't they adorable!?! Actually she made A LOT of draft dodgers, but I only photographed one.  She also made these really, really cool olive oil lamps.  I can't wait to use them.  I went grocery shopping today and completely forgot to buy olive oil.   Huh  She also made adorable toys for my boys.  A little bat, dinosaur finger puppet, and jingle ball.  She also sent photocopied frugal tips from a magazine.

Grenouille78's little girl is so kind hearted.  She decided to send a much loved book about a chick hatching from an egg for my boys.  One problem...it's in french!   Cheesy  Grenouille78 didn't want to deceive her daughter or discourage her loving gesture, so she sent it.  I'm sending it back, as requested, with a thank you note.  Isn't she a wonderful little girl?  Grenouille78 must be a wonderful mommy.

Thank you, grenouille78, for all the lovely items.  I adore everything!

p.s. grenouille78, if you have better pictures, please feel free to post them.  I only have a cell phone camera and it stinks.  Sad
